Any suggestions on picking a new club (NO GREEK CLUBS PLEASE!)

I know I won the Champions League with Olympiakos but DAMN those greedy bastards (chairman) holding out. They won't let me bring the players I want and bring players I don't want (free transfer). Anyone know any midtable club with money to spend. Also if they have that restrictions of having only 5 doesn't apply for that club it would be perfect. Any suggestions :)

There's a thread for this.

Try Shaktar or CSKA Moscow (H)

No one wants to play in your league, but you have tons of money.

yeah if money is all you care about, Shakhtar will be fine. Of course, in about a day's time you'll be replying to this thread again asking for a "more competetive league", but by all means have a crack :D

Fiorentina's players aren't nearly as talented as Palermo's. I know this because I played a season with Fiorentina and if it wasn't for the loaned in players (Brocci, some decent DM, Fiore, Frey) I would have probably bought 5 Palermo players. Fiorentina's expectations in the first season are to battle bravely against relegation, which is very very easy. Why did I quit? On the last match day of the Serie A I was tied with Roma (ahead of goal difference and had beat them both times in the season) in 4th place and had to play Empoli at my home stadium. Naturally the Empoli keeper went super keeper on my team and we drew 0-0 despite having like 12 shots on target. The Empoli keeper was being loaned to them... from me. He was transfer listed the next day. That pissed me off though, I deserved the CL.

So anyway, I started again with Shakhtar and I'm actually having a little fun, but I'm positive there's some sort of conspiracy against me. In 2005 my 3rd Qualifying Round opponent was Manchester United; I beat them 5-2 in the first leg in Ukraine and then beat a 10 man team 2-1 at Old Trafford even though even with 10 men they dominated. So then at the end of the Group Stage I'm 1 point out of second place and I have to beat Benfica in Ukraine to win; Benfica are 1 point above me in second. So of course their keeper goes super goalie on me and we draw 0-0 and I go to the UEFA. Who is my first opponent in the UEFA Cup? Roma. We lost.

So we sweep everything in Ukraine and I'm actually now in the Ukraine Hall of Fame after one season (and got the England job after the World Cup (H)) and who is my 3rd Qualifying Round opponent in the Champions League? LIVERPOOL!!! I'm getting screwed here. I lost 1-0 in Ukraine, so now I need a result in England 3400 miles away or else I'm out before the competition starts. And my team is good too!! I have Mascherano!! And Anatoliy Timoschuck (sp), I know personally I had seen him and considered buying him, but never did, well let me tell you, this guy is the Ukrainian Gerrard. He is AMAZING. He led my team in scoring last year from the MC position.

Oh, and I conceded 7 goals in 30 Ukrainian league games and didn't lose all season (H)

And just to let you know, no English players have figured out yet that if they actually would come to Shakhtar I would put them in the National team; if it meant I can get young english talent, I would.

Nothing better than ruining a player's career when they **** you over like that.

This one time, I had the same guy miss a penalty that would have put us 2-1 up, and then five minutes later put an opponent striker through on goal.... we lost thanks to him, we missed out on Europe and 4 seasons of reserves later he's playing in Serie C1 :junior:

Mascherano doesn't want to join me (Shakhtar) :(. Hopefully next year he will :).

Trust me, I've spent a long time trying to convince players to come to Shakhtar. The best advice I have is

1) Sign Rusol from Dnipro (I think). He's the best young Ukrainian defender around and is guaranteed to start on your team. That allows you to have an extra foreign player on your first team.

2) Scout Ukraine and Russia extensively. Only former USSR states (as best I can tell) count as non-foreign in the Ukrainian league, so you can't pack the team with foreigners. You get 12 in the match squad, which is nice, but Shakhtar starts with at least 12 quality foreigners.

3) Whatever you do, never sell Tymoschuk or Lastuvka. They are the heart of the team, never get rid of them.

4) There is a lot of talent in your Second and Third Teams, a LOT of talent, but most of it is loaned out for the first season. Just don't get rid of a player who could turn out to be the next Shevchenko; I feel that's my goal at Shakhtar, do NOT miss out on the next Sheva.

But yeah, it's tough, no one wants to come, miraculously Mascherano decided he would come in the summer of 06 when I promised him Key Player status and 95k per week.

EDIT: I sold Lastuvka (H)
