I tried posting this in fifa 06 forum with no response... I play fifa 06 with only international sides and I came up with some ranking calculations to keep them all ranked, and planned to keep this recorded using excel. But excel won't do it for me.
Excel wont do things linear at all. If i want it to search for Brazil it will find brazil but will return any one of their games not their most recent...
The guys that write programs like the ones we all use for editing FIFA are very generous with their time and do excellent work. I thought it would be worth it for me to post here and ask if maybe someone here would be willing to help me out.
I've created all the calculations so there's no problem there. all that i need is a program or utility that could hold a list of every national team in the world and their associative points. It would also need to hold a list of games.
Home Team -- home score -- away score -- Away Team
From here it would read who the home team and away team is, use their points and run the through the calculations i've created, then update the list when it's finished...
An example--
Origional list
1. Brazil - 200
2. Italy - 195
Brazil 3-2 Italy
This score along with who was home and away, and all the goals scored would be run thru the calculations and lets say for example Brazil earned 7 pts and italy lost 7. after i input the data it would update the list to this.
1. Brazil - 207
2. Italy - 188
I'm told it wouldnt be too tough to do... But i am clueless when it comes to programming and am only working with spreadsheet anyway so it doesnt even have the "INDEX/MATCH function available in it. (well the match part of it at least).
Any help that anyone provides is greatly appreciated. I am constantly trying to tweek the calculations to make them better and i hope to get them good enough that I can use this data to keep an updated ranking of national teams that can be considered more accurate or believeable than FIFAs or ELOs.
I know most probably aren't interested in this kind of thing since most are into club football and this isnt exactly a program you would use in your game anyway but i felt it was worth it to ask and see if anyone was willing. If not i understand entirely and I thank you for your time reading.
