Antonio Puerta (1984-2007)

I found a GolTV stream of this game...he's still on the pitch. Which minute does this happen in?

EDIT: just saw it, 28th minute.

I just read about the medical report....they are saying he is still critical and possibly has suffered cerebral damage....this is terrible man :(

Apparently the Spanish correspondant was just on Talksport saying his condition is deteriorating, Doctors claim he has suffered 9 heart attacks since his colapse on the pitch.

There's some new stuff on the Marca.com home page too... none of which it too encouraging.

Sevillista

Starting XI
It is unclear how many heart attacks Puerta has suffered, nor can I find any information on previous incidents. Here is what is known at the moment. Antonio is still in critical condition, sedated, and dependent on respirators due to a prolonged cardiac arrest. He's had several incidents of ventricular arrhythmia (irregular beating of the heart). The doctors have also said that his brain has been affected. They hope to find out in the next day whether or not any of this damage is permanent.

The reaction from players, teams, and fans in La Liga has been tremendous, especially from Real Betis who have put aside rivalries and visited to support Puerta and his family.

Now our team has to leave him and somehow play two European matches. :(

Red Card [Being a douche] exp. 22/1/06
If i was the Sevilla president, i'd fire the medical staff. If he had issues a year before and was cleared to play it is obvious to me that someone cares more about football than human life.

YELLOW CARD: Untrustworthy
I don't know the guy, and rarely saw him play, yet all this that is going on with him truly gets to me. I can only imagine how his team mates and family must be going through. I seriously can't see how the rest of the team will be able to go through the next games with this on their heads, but if they are able to get on the field. Hope they play their hearts out for him. I am not a sevilla fan, but for puerta, I will be cheering your team on...

Like Sevillista has said, ANIMO PUERTA!!

It's always difficult to see images like this on a football pitch, espeically after Marc-Viven Foé's death in 2003 :(

Best wishes to Antonio Puerta.

Shame on the madical staff. How do you let a man risk his life just because he is a good player? If they really knew it before, they should be fired.

btw, Sergio Ramos and Reyes went to Seville today to see him.

Be strong Antonio! He will not continue playing, and I really hope that he will stay alive and he wont have any brain damage.

Doctors shouldnt let him play alright, but he also knows the risk. To continue playing football after fainting twice is probably his decision, he's not being obligated to play. But still, he should be not be playing, doctors should've forbidden him of doing so. Anyway, best wishes to the fella. Hope he survives, of course.

Honestly i think he will. If he had 9 heart attacks and he's still alive like someone said, God probably wants him to stay alive. So Animo Puerta!

The Marca:
Puerta, en estado "muy crítico"

Puerta, in “very critical” state
The health of Antonio Puerta has gotten worse in the last hours. The last medical report indicates that its situation is “very critical” and that its “clinical evolution is unfavorable by the progression of the signs of postanóxico cerebral suffering and by the multiorganic disfunción”.
