Anelka to Fenerbahce ?

Nicolas Anelka will be in Turkey on Monday to hold talks on a massive €5 million a year contract at Fenerbahce, according to the French press.

Manchester City are rumoured in L'Equipe to have agreed a fee of around €12 million for Anelka, who has made it clear that he is looking for a club involved in UEFA Champions League football.

The 25-year-old is expected in Istanbul at the beginning of next week, where he will continue negotiations on a wage of around £3.5 million a year and undergo a medical.

The striker's deal will also include a clause allowing Anelka to seek a new home if Fenerbahce fail to qualify for the Champions League next season.

City are keen to find a replacement for Anelka, and this could delay any announcement of the Frenchman's exit.

The Premiership side still owe Paris Saint Germain around £5 million of the fee they paid the French club for Anelka.

It will be a nice acquisition for Fenerbahce.

Anelka will enjoy the tremendous atmosphere one will ONLY find in TURKEY!

I can't see Anelka playing in Turkey for some reason. I don't care what happens to him really, I can see him ending up in a club like Brentford at 38

how can Fenerbahce pay this kind of wages anyway? Do they have a local Abramovich or something?

Fenerbahce is the richest Turkish club and yes they do have an Abramovic but he is half as rich and evil.

I just wish he would hurry up and leave.

same... Fowler's getting better and better every game, and SWP scores more goals from the midfield anyways (H)

Exactly, he already has more this season than the big sulk.

I actually think Keegan should think about using a lone forward formation, with Fowler, supported by two offensive midfielders/ wingers, whether it be SWP and Macken, or SWP and BWP (although he is strictly speaking a striker), or SWP and SIbierski...with a midfield three of Reyna or Bosvelt, Barton and Macmanaman.

But I think Fowler would benefit from such a system, I don't think he needs another striker up there with him.

lone striker should be a target player who can use his both feet, like roy makaay in deportivo la coruna.. otherwise you have no chance of being successful in my opinion..

Yeah well I think Fowler could perform the role at least until the end of the season.

Anyway, not much chance of Anelka moving just yet, until the results of a scan of his back injury are in. I don't know what the delay on these is, I can diagnose the source of his back problems 10,000 miles away. It is all down to carrying that big ******* head around all the time.

Fowler as the lone striker could benefit City since most of their attacking prowess comes from the midfield

as long as Macken doesn't play (N)
