Amateur to Professional

Hi,

I've had FIFA WC 2002 for a couple weeks and have progressed through the beginner and amateur levels with relative ease.

In Amateur mode I have played as Senegal (lowest ranked team) and won most matches with scorelines like 8-1 and 6-0) with 8 minute halves.

Then I make the step to Professional and you can't do anything. As soon as you pass the ball, its intercepted like the other side can tell exactly what you are going to do 2 seconds before you do it. Or the intended receiver just stands in one spot or runs the other way. If you hold onto the ball fo even the slightest second you get tackled (always legally) and lose the ball anyway.

Why is the jump between these two levels SO BIG????? It's what makes me not want to play games like this anymore when you win at one level 8-1 as Senegal and then on the next level your lucking if the score is 1-8 playing as Brazil or England!!!.

This sux.

get use to it... try to press 'ee' or 'w+ee' when u r trying to dribble past defenders.. .And i f your player is good in shooting, once you start a kickoff, run forward to 3/4 of the semicircle and shoot with maximum power, sometimes you will score..
playing against an easy team helps you to get use to professional...

well the last 2 days i changed from proffesional to World class cos prof was getting a bit too easy and it is impossible to qulify from the group. Everytime the comp scores its a cheat goal, nothing well worked. examples today, claudio lopez shot and went straight through the body of Ferdinand, long passes to team mates (comp) and my goalie runs out to get it even though its not going in the box and they just turn and shoot past him miles away. In the middle of a game today i paused it and went into the instant replay and used free cam and zoomed right out to see the whole field. The comp had possesion in my half- my formation turned out 2-4-4. my full backs were playing on the wing, my wingers were up front with the other strikers, and while watching it run, all my players jogged back while some of the comps sprinted about 50 yards and coincedentally scored, i had a defensive mentality as well. One improvement i want to see in the 2003 is better positioning of players but most importantly the defence, my full backs are never ever there. My defence stops at the box, midfield half way up to the half way line and strikers at the half way line. Midfielders should jion in defensively and defenders should always be behind the ball until there is not opposition present. As soon as i get the ball in defence, every player just turns away and sprints up the field, especially bad when you are not allowd to play 5 consecutive passes or they intercept for a changed. This has been driving me absolutely nuts.

My observations exactly. And when the comp team kicks long they almost always (9/10) win the ball in the contest to bring the ball to ground. Even when my player is in front the ball seems to go straight through my players chest and hits the chest of the other guys standing directly behind him.

Further to that I am yet to see a card held up to a computer player.

the computer had cards when i'm playing...
i stop the ball, they slide, the referee comes, and off they go!
And i started playing world class a long time ago and i have to admit it was not easy starting at first but you will get use to it..
About air play, i let the computer get the ball, i stand a distance away, once the computer gets the ball, i sprint to him, slide accurately, and score on the break, you may have less possesion of the ball if this is your strategy but the most important thing is the scoreline, right?

RE:The patch

Is that Patch for any level or best suited to a specific level?

Any advice for people to get past each level of play, like those teams who always out muscle you for the ball in the air, is there a trick to positioning because the instructions in the book stink and don't even work in regards to that subject.

its for all the levels . the best way to win in fifa wc 2002 is not by strategies or something ................JUST ATTACK !! long range shots , long range passes , aggresive tackles(though u'll get a card or two ) . that patch certainly makes the game exciting cos by that there are offsides , cpu misses some shots , foul by the cpu etc etc ....
