Attilio Lombardo is an automatic selection.

Also, Thomas Gravesen for entertainment value.

How good was prime Gravensen? And why did he retire at 32? Big DMs usually can play until later on.

He was quality at an Everton side that was not as good as Everton is now, and he was not a total flop at Real Madrid, they gave him a few chances and the reason he was benched left was more due to the Spanish media and audiences finding him too physical rather than failings in his game. I dont know why he retired early, I dont think it was injury, wikipedia says he got no offers but that may mean he wasnt prepared to drop in standard. I know he made a fortune through investments after he retired.

Another classic would be Pascal Cygan. That player Bobby was raving about.

EDIT: Off-topic but here's one of Bobby's classic posts:

Cygan is big, bald, slow, lumbering, and worst of all to the mainstream press in England...French.

Because of this, he gets mountains of bad press that people (including myself) bought into, until i relized something.

Cygan has never put a foot wrong that he wasen't expected to. Arsenal have won 12 matches this year, Cygan has featured in 11 of those wins. The full number Arsenal have won 11 of Cygan's 15 matches, keeping 9 clean sheets in the process. He's also Arsenal's best passer not named Dennis Bergkamp, and yes, he's one of the top-10 passers in England. Don't beleive me? Watch him, he rarely messes them up.

I can't remember Pascal having any terrible matches this year, atleast not when he's been deployed at LCB. Can you?

So why is he the scapegoat? "He's funny looking" isn't a good answer, because Rooney looks like Shrek.

Maybe Anti was right.
