Africans finally seen as equals in Spain

What the hell? Why? That makes no sense. Why is there a foreigner rule if people from another continent aren't counted as foreigners?

I think a better question is "why is there a foreigner rule?"

Correct as said. There shouldn't be any in the first place. The only question why dont all EU countries recognise the non-discrimination act. Only Belgium and to lesser and getting even lesser extent Holland.

Well this rule can´t be applied to the whole african continent, only to a few countries that are former european colonies (i.e. Mali)

Yeah, but it only affects a few of them, which signed some type of commercial agreement with EU time ago.

I don't understand this law either. Surely this would have much wider implications for all industries for Spain? They couldn't limit it to sports.

The EU freedom of movement law has its pros and cons (supporting a heavily Lithuanian based team now I suppose I've seen one of the more extreme examples!)

It makes sense though. African football is the future and is finally coming of age after many false dawns.

Stupid rule, the EU idea is becoming a joke. This, the rumours about Israel becoming a member country, then turkey actually applying for the EU (this would make some sense since half of the country is geographically a part of Europe. However i think they have a very different culture compared to the rest of Europe). There were even some news not long ago about Morocco demanding their right to apply! All of this is nonsense. I mean, if they want to go that way its ok, but then change that name to Economic World Club or something, cause EU no longer means ****.

What does the culture of Turkey have to do with them joining the EU? Germany and France border each other and are very different countries; not to mention the differences between nations like Croatia and Portugal. It's not a cultural thing at all.

sure yes, but despite Germany and France being a different country, they're still from the same continent.. Turkey seems to be from another planet in comparison to those.. :D :p

and back on topic, I'm not sure about this law in spain..

There needs to be a foreigner rule otherwise leagues can seriously get swamped. The only reason it's just a non-EU rule is the EU law on freedom of movement etc.

Something like 98% of Turkey is in Asia anyway isn't it?
You have to draw the line somewhere, or are we going to start saying Mongolia is in Europe? It's got a border with Russia after all, and we consider Russia to be part of Europe.
