Another season, another thread. Hopefully we will be showing off pictures of the kampioensschaal being presented to a crazy croud at the Leidseplein at the last pages of this thread.

History

Founded on March 18, 1900 AFC Ajax is one of the largest and most storied clubs in European football. After their founding and acceptance into Dutch Football Ajax spent ten seasons in the country's second division before earning promotion for the 1911 season. The move to the first division did not last long though as just three seasons later the club was relegated for the first and only time in its illustrious history.
The fate of the club quickly changed with the arrival of trainer Carlos Reynolds who would spend 35 years at the helm of the team. Under the leadership of this legendary coach Ajax won their first National Championship in 1918. From that point on Ajax could always be found at or near the top of the Dutch table. It was also Reynolds and his revolutionary training methods that built the foundation for what has now become the world famous Ajax Youth Training Program.

The historic win of 1918 was the first of what currently stands at an astonishing 29 league titles for the Amsterdam club. Five of those magical wins came in the decade of the 1930's when the dominance of the red and white was at one its highest points ever. The 1930's were also a special decade for the club as in 1934 they moved into what would become known as "De Meer." Their new stadium where which legends would be born. It was there that Ajax would call home fore over 60 years and be the place that the club would come to dominate Dutch football and grow into a power across Europe.

Ajax' first taste of European competition came in 1961 when the club became the first from the Netherlands to participate in the European Cup Winners Cup. Success on the European front loomed in the future as the club found a place in the 1969 Cup final before bringing home their first title in 1971. Starting with the magical victory in 1971 Ajax went on to win three consecutive European Champions Cups. In 1972, led by the world famous Johan Cruijff had one of the best seasons ever by a professional football team winning the National Championship, the Dutch Cup, the European Champions Cup and the World Cup.
"De Meer" was also the place where Ajax would develop it's world famous youth training program and develop some of the worlds best football players, a philosophy that is even more important to their success today.

The success of the late 1960's and early 1970's although impossible to duplicate was followed up by 25 more years of success for the club that included 11 National Championships in the final quarter of the century. The success was highlighted by another exciting venture in Europe as Ajax again became European and world champions in 1995.

The need for a new stadium brought with it the closing of "De Meer" in 1996 and the move to the Amsterdam ArenA. With it a new chapter in Ajax history opened. In 1998 Ajax would again find themselves at the top winning both the National Championship and their 14th Dutch Cup in 1998. Now it is time once again for the club to celebrate a new beginning. This time as they head into their second century as one of Europe's most innovative and successful football clubs.

Aaaaaaaaaah we're back wonderful job Zlatan (Y) :33vff3o::33vff3o:
I'm curious about the new awaykit, I've read that it's going to be really classy can't wait to find out in a few weeks..

So let's sum up our new players for now:

Dario Svitanich
Miralem Sulejmani

Who stays:

Leonardo (gets another chance after his long injury)
Manucharyan (probably hired to another club)

Who left:

John Heitinga :(
Luque (most likely)
Kuffour (never a real chance)

KLAAS-JAN HUNTELAAR????????????

It's about damn time we win the championship again, the guy who made PSV champions a few times has left Eindhoven (Gomes) but Feyenoord bought Tomasson but we will still beat them why?? because we win all the time against Feyenoord and that's been so for many years haha
AZ?? Naaaaaaa they will always remain subtop no matter how hard they try they're no threat to us.

Today Miralem Sulejmani has signed a 5 year contract and he's going to be the new nr 10 for the team according to MvB.

He's very proud to be part of the club with such a big history with players like MvB, Cruyff, Bergkamp (who's going to be part of the technical staff btw)
He wants to become champions this season (from his mouth to gods ears please

more news:

AJAX DISMISS HUNTELAAR TALK:

Ajax have played down reports linking Klaas-Jan Huntelaar with a move to Arsenal.

The Holland international scored 33 goals for his club last season and speculation this summer has suggested he could be on his way to the Premier League with either the Gunners or Manchester United.

However, Ajax's acting managing director Henri van der Aat insists there has been no approach from Arsenal as yet.
Contract talks between Ajax and Huntelaar recently broke down but the Amsterdam club remain hopeful that he will stay.
And Van de Aat has warned any interested suitors that Ajax will fight hard to keep Huntelaar.
"We really don't want him to leave and we are going to do everything we can to make sure he doesn't," said Van der Aat.
"There has been no contact with Arsenal."

Klaas Jan Huntelaar's agent says there has been no contact with Manchester United as the striker waits for the right offer to quit Ajax.
The Holland international has rejected a new deal with Ajax, who wanted to include a £20million release clause in the contract.
Arsenal have been linked with a bid for Huntelaar, although Ajax stated on Tuesday that there had been no talks with the Gunners.
Premier League champions United are also reported to be admirers of Huntelaar, with the 24-year-old having admitted he would be interested in a move to Old Trafford.

Interesting
However, the forward's representative Arnold Oosterveer admits that, until a suitable offer is received, Huntelaar will be staying at the Amsterdam ArenA.
"For him, United is a club that is interesting, but unless a suitable club come in for him, he will be at Ajax next season," said Oosterveer in the Daily Mirror.

"We won't speak to Ajax any more about a new contract because they wanted to put a new clause in it, but he has two years to go.

"There has been no contact between Ajax and United, or United and myself."

Would'nt that be something, Hunter, Sulejmani and Suarez, no defence who can hold them down :D

yeah that was great fun :innocent_smile_1:

Btw the awaykit I'd posted earlier is FAKE!
According to the chairman of the supporters association it's not the real thing so we have to wait to see what it will look like :browsmiley:
5000 fans on the first training today saw Sulejmani and Cvitanich in action and more news, Ajax made an official bid on Ismail Aissati I think it's only a matter of time since Aissati has told the media today that he will leave PSV for 100% and he said:"Ajax why not why can't I play there?" that's what I mean :)

The goal for this season:"CHAMPIONS" said MvB today, let's hope so it's about damn time too!

Zlatan: how about adding the 5 Clubvalues to the first post :)

Van Basten makes Huntelaar the new captain!

But if this is a guarantee for him staying with us..???
It seems that ManUtd is very close with signing Berbatov as their new striker so hopefully this will mean that Hunter stays in Amsterdam but you never know in football, at least Marco finds him important enough to appoint him the captaincy

Also the new numbers for this season have been presented:
Check out the names LUQUE???? , Schilder????

Ajax very close to signing Aissati!

Ajax has raised his bid on Aissati today and it's very close to the price that PSV wants for him.
"there is still a gap but we want a constructive solution and no courtcase' said the chairman van Kraay
At first they didn't want to sell him to Ajax as a direct opponent but they changed their mind it seems, also in the interest of Aissati himself who really wants to go to Ajax (naturally :innocent_smile_1:

So it's a matter of days now untill we can welcome him in Amsterdam and he's an assett to any team, the squad is definitely getting stronger with him in the team. CHAMPIONS! (Y)

Hopeunited

Starting XI
So I've heard MvB has told Luque, Schilder, Leonardo and co. to go find new clubs. Shame nothing has worked for Luque ever since he left Spain.

Silencer

Superstar
Luque and Leonardo both scored today in a practicegame against Noordwijk because Marco wanted to see them play so at this moment their still with us.
I understood that Leonardo was staying but Luque was too expensive to keep and today Ajax is finishing the talks with Oleguer from Barcelona who will replace Heitinga and is not going to be very cheap as well..

I like Luque as a player but he didn't play much last season and that's a pity.

EDIT:

Tomorrow Aissati will be presented for the media, he already had a medical so it's OFFICIAL!
He will sign a contract for 4 or 5 years :D
Welcome Ismail you made the right choice hahaha how stupid can you get PSV with selling one of your best players you really don't know how to treat talented players and under the guidance of Marco, Dennis and Johnny he will grow and shine (Y)

EDIT 21/07/08

Ajax and Jan Vertonghen are about to sign a new (better) contract for the Belgian midfielder, the contract he has now will last 2 years longer after signing. MvB wants to keep Jan for the club and he's so right because he is one of the best midfielders/defenders in the league and a fantastic player. He said today that he really enjoys his time in Amsterdam and that he wants to stay so that's great news (Y)

I think Ajax is doing very well at the moment with the signings and MvB changed things around immediately with Sulejmani, Cvitanich and Ismail Aissati who joined today for 4 years (Y) and now we are gunning for one or even two new defenders, the name of Oleguer has been mentioned already.

And today was the launch of our new awaykit:

Hi guys. Just came back from 3 weeks USA & Canada. Luckily we had a laptop with us so I could keep up with the news surrounding Ajax in these past couple of weeks. And from what I've heard it's shaping up quite nicely. Aissati is a very nice buy and Oleguer only has to come to an agreement with Ajax to join our squad. I think he can bring some more experience to our defense.

Klaas staying huh? Isn't that what Wes said around the same time last year? I don't trust these promises anymore. If a club like Real comes with 30m+ than Ajax won't refuse it, I'm telling you.

I'll update the first post BTW.

Welcome back mate :D

Well appearantly MvB told the media in a pressconference that Klaas-Jan was staying so I think he had a talk with him about it.

Oleguer is official, Ajax made it official yesterday, tomorrow is the medical and the presentation will follow short after.
The day after tomorrow Ajax will travel to England for a trainingcamp and Oleguer will join the group.
We play against Cardiff City and Sunderland so that will be good training to see how far we are and of course at the end of the week the Amsterdam Tournament where we play against Arsenal and Internazionale.

With this team psv won't make it funny thing is that Affelay was really pissed when PSV let Aissati go this week

Our boys will play against Cardiff this friday and Oleguer traveled with them to the UK (Y)

Meh I don't know. I still think Klaas will go before the end of August. We saw it with Wesley last year, you can't trust these promises. Big clubs will start offering lots of money for him and both Ajax and Klaas won't refuse that. I can see Ajax actually wanting to sell him, because after all we paid 16.25m for his replacement Sulejmani(which, I think, is way too much BTW). In any case I'll only believe Klaas is staying when it's 1st september and he's still in our squad.
