Adobe Photoshop 7 Question

i just recently got photoshop 7 on my computer and im pretty pumped to learn how to make some stuff but upon my fooling around with the program i encountered a couple of problems

upon trying to use the fill bucket tool, the moment i clicked it on the canvas my computer froze

so i restarted and tried again, didnt use the fill bucket tool this time, choose the gradient tool and again upon clicking my computer froze. this has put a little bit of a fork in my road and it kinda sucks. although i have been able to use all the other tools like cutting, using various patterns and textures.

anyone have a thought or solution, any help is much appreciated

hmm........i've never had that problem, sometimes my comp freezes after a fill but only for a few seconds

my filters don't always work tho, they have their days

what happens when you press ALT+Backspace?

(shortcut to filling canvas with foreground colour)

just tried it and it filled the canvas, so i guess i just wont use the tool, but i guess i wont be able to use gradient unless there is a shortcut for that

shift + backspace will open up the fill dialog box, which i THINK you can gradient fill with

new problem

it just freezes periodically, since i had my computer upgraded it has not froze once, now i get photoshop and it freezes 3 or 4 times.

i think the fill button is just one way it freezes

this is frustrating
