We have gotten a proposition that we would like to discuss with all managers.

Today there are many teams that are either inactive or log in very infrequently. Mostly in the lowest divisions in each country. This is not so fun for an active manager in division 6 as he or she might play less active managers.

Today we suspend and delete teams that have a manager that has not logged in for more than 10 weeks. However a suggestion has come up to take this one step further to make inactive managers a little more active - and if they are not interested in the team - lose it.

It is called an activity fee. Let say that on the anniversay of your registration in ManagerZone (when you took over your team) you will have to deposit 2-3 USD or equivalent to your account which forces that team to participate in a cup or a friendly league. If the person is not interested in the team he or she will probably not pay and it will be removed and taken over by somebody who is interested. This only applies to managers that has not been a part of anything during the year... such as a cup or a friendly league.

The managers suggesting this think a number of sort of inactive teams will be removed and the league more firm as far as active managers go - as well as help a little against cheating.

Would an activity deposit like this be a good thing? It is money they can use to participate in the game. Not a fee. Would it clear out a lot of inactive people and make it more fun in the lower divisions?

so as long as u play in one cup/FL this doesnt apply to u. I saw ash said he will pay when he wants but since he's taken part in cups and FLs there's no activity fee to be paid. I dont support it, i think they should just send an e-mail after 6 weeks of inactivity and delete the team if the user doesnt log in after 1 week. Has anyone noticed mz is getting kinda greedy?

Be sure to review the fihish of this exciting cup with RealPlay Live and utilize the Analyzer to get some pointers on improving your teams tactics.
everyone knows the 4-3-3 is all you'd see. they just want ur money!

I don't mind paying 5 bucks, but it's not like I have a credit card :| And I think it would look kinda funny, asking my parents to use their credit card for a 5 dollar payment on some soccer website.

And I don't think you can do it by texting in the U.S.

Just delete the teams that haven't logged in at all during a season... A lot easier :monkey:

It's a ripoff...they should either wait until everybody has got the chance to pay by mobile, or not implement it at all.
Let's say I don't have the chance to pay (no CC and a mobile phone, but no services), and I haven't been in any FLs (which, luckily, I have), they would just delete the Swiss champion, although they can clearly see I'm playing friendlies? Oh please.

So this applies to everyone even if they don't have a credit/debit card or a mobile phone that can pay? Lucky for me I have one but think of those managers who will lose their teams!

Are you going to suggest other ways they could monitor who is active and who's not? Like organizing friendlies, logging in once every X days, etc.

Clearing out inactive teams?
Sounds more like getting extra finances for MZ Hockey...

Well, I'm safe as I've entered money into my account before. But that doesn't mean I'm entirely happy with the charge.

Firstly, people without mobiles will have to pay via credit / debit card. £10 minimum deposit, you say? Hmm. Don't think everyone will pay that much.

The remaining friends I have registered on this game will go ... two log in once a week or so to check their results and like recently, sell a player. They're not active like me to log in every day, but they're active enough not to be deleted.

The other logs in fairly regulary and I think he'd probably pay. But my little brother won't. :( The reason I got more involved in MZ, enjoyed it more and paid my own money was because of these people and we had fun and it was enjoyable. I'll still play without them registered but if they do have to pay it'll take something away from the game for me.

The other side of the coin is that Huw Hay United will finally go from MZ. Last season they only survived because of inactive teams (according to my next opponents in the league's manager, Hamrun Spartans). Ash said they'd started in the EPL IIRC so they're just logging in to keep their team active. This would get rid of them as I doubt they'd pay.

In theory it sounds good, a way to get rid of inactive teams (as well as cheaters), but in practice it sounds like a way of getting more money. I'm all for getting rid of truely inactive teams and cheaters, just not those that are active but can't pay.

Also, I assume some of the money we're paying for MZ Football will be used for MZ Hockey ... a bit frustrating if the money paid to enhance the football game will go on developing the hockey game ... anyone know anything about this? I hope it doesn't mean there are less crew members working on football as well as the server drain ... maybe any money from this possible charge could be used for more servers?!

I agree with Chris...this is only a way of getting more money.

MZ has got logs, member lists, and scripts which they run to see if somebody doesn't log in. The only good side would be the cheater prevention, as nobody would pay twice...I hope

Yeah, that thought came to me so I mentioned it. Johan didn't so I'm not sure whether MZ took that into consideration, maybe they did but forgot to mention it. But they didn't mention it so it doesn't look like a way of preventing cheaters but solely a way of getting rid of "inactive" teams.

I appreciate that MZ are a business and need to survive, but there are better ways of getting money. Yes the money would go to allow the user to participate in FLs, cups, etc. but it'd be best not to force them to pay, rather to encourage. Look at Argentina's growth compared to paying countries such as England. People can't / don't want to pay for various reasons. Maybe an unfair comparison as those users aren't registered but they can still see the demos I guess.

I'm gonna have a little article (hopefully) in the English zone that touchs on the argentina issue and Mz's whole way of making money along with payment options.
