About: Origin + OfficialUpdates/Patches/Mods

Hey!

First off, let me say this: I'll be honest, yesterday night I bought FIFA 14 for PC through Origin, but until yesterday I've been playing a pirate copy. That's because I wanted to try the full game and the game modes before buying it. I was satisfied with the final product so I went ahead an purchased it.

But this is the first time I play through Origin so I'm having several questions about what to do with Mods/Patches and Official Updates.

Let's see... until yesterday I had been playing with ModdingWay Patch 5.0 and 6.0. But since my game wasn't original, it kept crashing after Season 1. So I decided to backup all my files including the FIFA 14 folder on My Documents. Then I purchased the game, installed it and try to restore everything to where I was.

However, now my Squads file seems to be corrupted and my Career Mode savegame too. Plus, everytime I try to restore those files Origin tells me they are different from the ones stored in the cloud.

So... can anybody give me a few advices to fix this and get my Career Mode back and running?.
Also, how am I supposed to "behave" with Origin + EA Official Updates in one hand and community Mods and Patches on the other hand?. Should I disable Origin or what?.

Your career save file will only work with the db you were using when you started your career. Place that db in your Game / data folder, start the game offline so it doesn't link to the EA server, then try and load your career save file. See if that works.

Also, doesn't cloud give you the option to delete your cloud saves? You could try that.

That's fine. But shut off your internet connection, start the game with your original career mode db in your data folder, and see if your career save file loads. That you can do without messing with any of your cloud files.

When I disconnect from the Internet and click on the FIFA 14 icon, Origin opens but it won't let me run the game because I'm not Online. It shows me the Origin Login screen and I can't do anything else but to close it. If I close it and double click on FIFA 14.exe from the Origin Games folder again the same thing happens. So there's no way to run FIFA with no Internet. Unless I'm missing something...

I've played FIFA offline for two years, I never go online to connect with EA or update the game. Once the game is registered online, you can play offline. A message may come up saying can't connect to the EA servers, but I just hit Okay and it takes me into the game in offline mode.

OK, so... what I did is: While connected to the internet, I run Origin. Once Origin is up and running, I went offline. Run FIFA. My Squads file is loaded correctly and so is the Career Mode savegame. Thank you so much Bangus!

But now my biggest problem is, when I finish the First Season and the Game is preparing the second season, the game jumps back to Windows Desktop. It happened to me about 10 times already!!! Please help me out! I can't believe I spent so much money on a game that is full of bugs and crashes. How can I go to the Second Season???

Happened to me about 15-20 times now. With both, the ilegal version and with the original (bought) one.

If you've edited or modded the game files in any way, you have no way of knowing what's causing the game to crash. Me, I always assume it's because of edits I've made or because of mods I've added. You can't just blame EA and assume it's a bug in the game.

Well, that's true. You're right.
However... I've only installed ModdingWay 0.5 and 0.6 patch. That's it. And I haven't seen people reporting this bug, so it can't be that patch what's causing this crash.

moddingway mods has some bugs....still no solution yet.....try playing the game w/o mods...i usually install mods during end of the season for franchise

I don't really know if it's a ModdingWay Patch bug. Some people have the same bug without MW's Patch!

And you won't know until you take his advice: remove the mods and then try it.

But if I remove the mods I won't be able to load the career mode savegame I started and played WITH the mod ON. Right?.

if you've selected database 2.0 on mwselector & started the career w/this db, yep you're right.

if you've used default database, you'll be able to load & continue that your saved career.

I said what I did because, again, you can't assume the game is bugged when you've installed mods. And so the only thing to do is test to see if the issue is with the game or with the mods. So you start over and you run a test career.
