A very strange night in UEFA Cup Group H

gotta love how things were shaped up in UEFA Cup Group H last night..

it was Panionios-Bordeaux and Galatasaray-Austria Wien, with Helsingborg and Bordeaux already qualified in group with 7 and 9 points (After 3 matches) respectively. Panionios (4 points after 3 matches) and Galatasaray (3 points after 3 matches) were racing for the third qualifying spot. So if Panionios wins against Bordeaux, they qualify no matter what.. if Panionios draw with Bordeaux, Galatasaray have to win in order to reach 6 points to beat Panionios for the third place..

it all started at the favour of Panionios.. Bordeaux left their senior players at France, came up with a young, inexperienced squad.. Panionios used their home advantage, had a great start to score a penalty at 4th minute, then a magnificent screamer from 30 meters made it 2-0... I was losing all my hope for Galatasaray, we even were unable to score against that lacklustre Austria Wien side.. before first half, Cavenaghi scored for Bordeaux to make it 2-1, which looked nothing more than a consolation goal at Greece..

At second half, things got even more interesting. Galatasaray never got it going to penetrate into that Austria Wien defence. It doesnt need anything special to score against Austria Wien and still Galatasaray cant get a goal, in a match which they should win in order to grow some hope. At 74th minute, Tremoulinas scored after a Cavenaghi assist to make it 2-2. So far so good, now a goal against Austria Wien would do wonders for Galatasaray... From that moment, Galatasaray went for an all-out-attack formation and still couldnt score and created nothing to be honest to score against Austrians. Panionios also, fought so hard against Bordeaux, got some chances but since they forgot to form a tactical discipline, they conceded third at 86th minute..

well, roughly 5 minutes to go, I was expecting a Galatasaray goal to relax but that goal wouldnt came.. Bordeaux formed a tough defensive line, so no goals for Panionios either..

so Galatasaray were qualified.. I should be happy but I was bitter, it's not a deserved qualification.. with the players like Linderoth, Lincoln, Nonda, Arda, Song etc in our squad, we still need Bordeaux to score the third for qualification.. and we were racing with Panionios for the qualification, I watched the entire match and I still cant remember a name from Panionios.. Panionios, with all their lack of discipline and lack of quality in their squad, didnt deserve to qualify either but the situation Galatasaray put themselves into was truely pathetic..

there...

if you need a point i can give one - here -> .

Theo, don't loose it on such a performances of your club. It doesn't really matter , as the meaning of a possible 1/16 final in UEFA Cup equals 0

Youth Team
Half the teams that progressed didn't deserved to. Take Zurich for example. Dismantled by Leverkusen 5-0 at home and still progressing. This is really unpleasant.
