2018 world cup bid

Make America Great Again
1,200 migrant workers have died in Qatar already preparing this dynastic absolute monarchy for a World Cup. But hey, there's only 8 more years and... basically all of the labor to go.

Nady and Xifio, would you please explain yourselves? You were excited for this to happen. I am willing to drop the matter if you both admit you were completely wrong, I was completely right, and that the World Cup should now be shifted to the United States or Australia immediately so as to give a real host country enough lead time to host properly.

What are the odds that it gets moved now? or does it have to be close to 2022 before it is even consider to moving it to another country?

Very low because FIFA is corrupt as shit and all the executives were bought. Qatar bought off fucking Platini.

It should have been in the USA to facilitate growth of the sport there. That is more profitable than any petrodollars under the table

Yeah, but that'd require people at FIFA having an actual interest in the sport itself as opposed to how much money they can make off it.

Who's party to a boycott of or not playing in the qualifiers for 2022 to protest the farcical awarding of a World Cup on the basis of corrupt petromagnate absolutism? Even better will be when nothing will have been built; and there'll be no tournament anyway! (H)

USA had 94. Australia should have got it (not that I would have enjoyed the game times).

Just hold all the games in Dublin, sure it would be a great laugh. We stand a good chance at Euro2020 groups mind you. :D

This is bullshit. A winter WC is ridiculous. Give it to the US and be done with it. They won't, of course, but I'd like to see the reaction from the clubs, leagues and sponsors who are now screwed out of a lot of money.

I actually like to see something new, but I'm not sure Qatar will be able to organize the WC at the required level.

There's no way it gets moved, FIFA broke so many of their own rules in awarding it in the first place (like Doha having six fucking stadiums when other countries are limited to two in one city) that their intentions were obvious, and it had nothing to do with "the good of the game".

Yeah, but that was 28 years ago, before a majority of the actual players in 2022 would have even been born. Plus, the US still has the most potential for growth of the game aside from China and India which are completely untapped. I'd be fine with having it in Australia, but it only has ~25 million people and only 5 cities with over 1,000,000 inhabitants (making the construction of stadiums awkward if following the max 2 in a city rule). By contrast the United States is the third most populous nation on earth with the facilities already in place for the most part. If we're talking about the best possible host for a World Cup, the US is probably in the top 2 or 3 with England and maybe somewhere else like Germany or Italy.

I thought Japan's bid with the games projected around onto pitches around the world was pretty cool, and entirely possibly. That technology was actually used during Sochi's opening ceremony. Japan would probably see economic benefits too given how much of their economy is based on new construction. Fukushima would be a worry though, it's apparently worse than people realize.

If Africa was able to organize it, why not Qatar? The deaths that have been attributed to the WC 2022 are very controversial and most of them died of "natural causes" not by accidents. There are like 340 000 + workers as well therefore 1 200 is a very small fraction of that. This definitely needs to be investigated though because people's lives may be at stake.

Replace Qatar with "England" and imagine 1,400 people died building stadiums so England could host the World Cup. Can you even imagine the reaction to that?

Natural causes according to the autopsy, which I assume is done by Qataris?

Joke of a decision to give it to them. There is not one good reason to give it to them.
