2018/2022 bids

Was reading about it at wikipedia & thought I would start a thread about it here to know your opinion about the bids & which nation do you think deserves to host the event

2018 and 2022 bids:

Belgium/Netherlands

England

Russia

Spain/Portugal

United States

only 2022 bids:

Australia

Japan

Qatar

South Korea

cancelled bids

Indonesia

Mexico

If FIFA was serious about not allowing joint bids nations to host world cup, I would give 2018 to Russia, and 2022 to Australia or England.

Russia because they never hosted it plus

"According to a report earlier submitted by Vitaly Mutko, who also served that time as President of the Russian Football Union (RFU), the country is ready to spend some $10 billion on the tournament"

Australia because they never hosted it too, & it may develop the game much if they host it.

England, because they need to win it. I feel like England are on their way of becoming a new Uruguay (Champions that hardly qualify, and if they do they get knocked out too early)

I thought they wouldn't allow joint bids if one of the countries was able to host it on its own (i.e. Spain & Portugal).
I'd like to see England 2018 and Australia 2022.

2018: Russia
2022: Qatar
2026: Australia

Russia is the biggest country in the world, spreading throughout Europe and Asia, believe it has a chance to be the best or at least provide the most interesting World Cup experience. However since they will be hosting Winter Olympics in 2014, 2018 might be too soon..But my next pick only bids for 2022 :)
Qatar for 2022. Very unique, interesting country with not much known about, such event as World Cup will greatly benefit it like it did South Africa. And this is one of the beauty sides of such an event.
---

Portugal have hosted Euro'04 and Spain keep winning international trophies, both countries get enough recognition. USA hosted '94 and numerous Olympic games..I believe they can let the others host it. Holland&Belgium had Euro'00; Japan and S.Korea speak for themselves - already hosted awhile ago, give others a chance. England are hosting 2012 Olympics, hosted Euro 1996, having their close neighbor France host Euro 2016 + constantly in attention.

I have to take out Australia, they are a worthy host but I find Russia and Qatar to be a better choices. But I hope AUS gets 2026-th.

England 2018 and Qatar 2022 for sure.

Yep. That's might be true.

Why Qatar ?
I think they are not qualified enough to host it.
1. Very high temperature during world cup 40+c
2. Very weak national team
3. Small population .. must expect many empty seats
4. Not enough stadiums

I'm pulling for USA 2018, though I think it is too soon since '94, and other worthy candidates haven't hosted one in a while ... but Mexico did host it twice in 2 decades, so you never know ...

I wouldn't mind the Aussies getting it either ... I have family there, and so accommodation and travel plans would be locally set! (that is if I decide to go ... otherwise, the time difference would suck ...)

both Benelux and Iberia are equally fine by me, if Europe is to get it in either '18 or '22 ...

1. they have addressed the point through viable cooling technology, to maintain pitch-level temperature at 25-27 celcius

2. yup, it is a concern

3. I think they are hoping to attract heavy foreign interest and therefore influx

4. they would have had to have met the stadia number requirement in order to have even submitted the bid (including new stadia yet to be built), so this is a non-issue

Don't find #2 and 4 to be a problem. Qatar has a very good economy at this moment and the stadiums will be built faster and better than in other regions. The only reason they don't have stadiums right now is because they hardly need to!
Cooling can be done for the temperature purposes.
About the population...Honestly, I am surprised to see only 1.5 million living in a country. If it was not for the hot climate, I would be happy to live in Doha! It's growing to become another NY or a Hong Kong type of city. By 2022 I will expect the population to at least double. In any case, would love to visit the country as a tourist, especially to see the tournament.

We apologize for keeping the yellow too long

In the USA, there WILL NOT be ANY empty seats. Fans from ALL 32 countries would be represented VERY WELL. There WOULD NOT be any infrastructure issues. With the financial joke that was FIFA Vuvuzela Cup South Africa 2010 now over, FIFA should be looking for a guarantee and the United States would be the apt choice. USA for 2022 is more realistic though, it will be England(coughs Wembley coughs) in 2018.

Honestly, it's time to bring the tournament back to the US....Mexico and Canada would likely get to host 1 or 2 games each.

I dont know why but for some reason I would really like to see Australia hosting WC. And yes I think the WC should return to North America too, most of the games in USA, and couple in Mexico and Canada. IMO the countries would be:

2018: Australia
2022: USA with Canada and Mexico
2026: Spain

18 - ?

for this theory, it should be in Europe, again i think.. And as an important country for football, England seems closer.. they're ready for this i think. not hosting it since 66' ..
Spain loses chance againts England, i think..

for 2018 bid :
1 - England
2 - Russia
3 - Belgium/Holland

2022 :
1 - Usa
2 - Qatar is a question mark too
3 - Japan or Korea .. errm no !
4 - Australia ? maybe ..

Guys, Australia has pulled out of 2018, to focus on their 2022 bid.
Being from there, I really hope we get it!!!
Would be a huge boost for football here, considering it has only been pro here for 5 years or so; a WC would be massive!

I hope Russia get 2018 by the way.
Purely because England will have the Olympics, Netherlands/Belgium had Euro 2000, and I don't like the fact that Spain/Portugal is a joint bid!
