Pogba sucked against Celtic!

(H)

So did Pirlo, they aren't counter attacking players

They did what was necessary, I didn't think they 'sucked'. This match was pretty much a training session to them. Pirlo's pass to Vidal on the 2-0 was a thing of beauty and made it all worthwile.

I only saw the first half, but Pogba looked fine to me. Lively. Quagiarella looked like shit to me despite the goal and assist. Talk about a wasteful player.

nah Quags was just desperate to prove himself, he doesn't get so many chances. you'd appreciate this kind of stuff a lot more if you had Vucinic in your squad.

They go in quite often, he just tries too hard

Watched the PSG game while working out, bleh, can't believe this was all that was on today and I had to pick between Madrid and Dortmund yesterday.
no Zlatan, no Verratti, why bother? unless you were watching it for Valencia, since you're there ...

I thought Valencia had some guy named Bonega that I never heard of from these announcers. Nope, Banega.
hah, haven't watched today's matches yet ... who was commentating?

I watched the recorded Moudrid match yesterday and couldn't believe my ears when I heard Warren Barton, that disgrace of an "analyst", had the call with Gus Johnson ... obviously he was shamelessly biased throughout, but the best part was his description of "defeat" in Ramos' eyes, and how Sergio Ramos -- the two-time European Champion and World Champion -- was given a first half test with "the movement, the running" that he "wouldn't have experienced" ...

also, is it just me, or does Gus Johnson channel a little Max Bretos? not as bad, but you get wafts of it ... Men in Blazers were waxing lyrical about 'the voice of soccer', but in hindsight it was a joke, surely?

Gus Johnson is terrible. He is no better than a random man off the street at this point. I'm so glad that Fox is subjecting me to shitty commentary for every major game of interest for the next 5 years so... announcing groupies?... will tune in for a month long World Cup. He shouts and gets excited for crosses with no one in the box, but did you listen to his call for the Nani foul? Seemed like he had no idea that there was even a foul on the play.

Valencia-PSG was on Fox Soccer, which I don't get. It was some guy from Sky Sports 4.

Van Der Viel is so bad it is not even funny. I don't get how Ancelotti an Italian tactician well known for defense oriented teams signed him and keeps playing him. The man is garbage.

BTW i hope we are paired with PSG since they gonna miss Ibra the first game. And yes i take us going through for granted. (H)

Everyone knows that the standard is "did it hit the arm/hand?" not "did they mean to hit it with their arm/hand?" It is beyond well established in the pro game in every league.

I am certain that it is actually "did they mean to stop the ball with their arm/hand?" and commentators have been talking about this since they put the "deliberate" word into the rule.

It used to be "did it hit the arm" before, but not anymore. That's the only way I could explain how so many handballs are not being called anymore.

Do you really see handballs not getting called? The only ones I don't see called are when the ref doesn't see them. Brek Shea won one in his Stoke debut that was obviously not "deliberate" from the defender, he just lifted the ball into the guy's hand in the box and that was enough for a penalty.

Gus was bad but Warren Barton was awful. He sounded like he was going to cry when he realized United weren't going to win.

Lol, look who is saying that. A Barca fan! You blame the loss to Ferguson's "senility" while your own team lost 2 games back to back against Real Madrid with 11 men. In one of the games, you even lost by a bigger margin. How ironic.

This is clearly different from the Nani challenge. Nani was looking at the ball and did not know who was behind him. Arbeloa just basically came out of nowhere and collided with Nani's studs. It was accidental.

Actually from this video it would seem Nani knew where Arbeloa was. http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=1P4lYYSDmiI&desktop_uri=/watch?v=1P4lYYSDmiI

Former Premier League referee Dermot Gallagher: "(The decision was) harsh to say the least but in fairness the Real player did Nani no favours whatsoever. At worst Nani catches the underside of his arm, certainly not the ribs as the guy has gone down and shown. I can't reiterate enough that he (Nani) is watching the ball over his shoulder, there was no malice in him. At worst it was a yellow for dangerous play, but if I was refereeing that game I cannot see what stretch of the imagination where I would have sent him off for that."

Sportingintelligence: "Won't do ref any favours on Twitter he follows only 2 non-Turkish clubs; 1 is Real Madrid, other Barca. Also follows Spanish tourism board!"

Fuck that ****

Holy crap, THAT Gus Johnson? I google imaged him.

He used to be commentator for failed MMA organization Strikeforce (him being there didn't help the matter).

Does he get off on commentating about sports he has no idea about?
