Multiplayer Direct IP?
I do play it online through Direct IP, it works fine but i'll depend on both your ISP stability and your opponent's, I have played several matches with no problems at all, I use the creation master and FHL patcher and I haven't had any problem at all but I mostly change kits, balls and shoes ...- foxknight11

Changing the freekick taker during a match makes the game laggy
Laggy while playing online? or having problems with the frame rate? if you mean lower frame rates after switching kickers I'd suggest using either tune up utilities with turbo mode on, or XP smoker with the game boost option active, those two helped me with games like Lord of the rings battle...- foxknight11

Controlling GK during a free kick
I would just lower the "player auto-switch" option in the Controller menu, there's like 10 bars that you can either fill out or remove as many as you like I got mine at 3 so I can keep the player for longer time and avoid changing player accidentally.- foxknight11
