    FC Bayern München Thread [2008/09]

It's always nice to see some bright new summer-signings, but we can't complain after swooping Frank, Luca and Miroslav last season. Borowski is a good get, and we are still the best team in Germany by quite a way, and possibly a team that can make the semi's in the CL. Although, I firmly...

Yes, the friendly against Inter should be a great match. Last year's pre-season friendly against Barca wasn't the best spectacle. It is a shame about Ribery, but seriously, if there was the perfect time to be injured it would be now. He'll be right for the 'business-end of the season'...

Also, cheers Deisler for opening up a new Bayern thread for this season!!

It look's like something out of an Ikea catalog. Very impressive. If Podolski still has trouble to 'settle' in with these facilities, and given that it is now his third season at Bayern, then possibly his heart is only for one club -and as a result, should head home.

I agree, Hleb would be a great coup. As for Gomez, although I rate him highly he would be wasted in a squad behind Toni, Klose and Podolski. It would be better for the Bundesliga if he stays where he is. Germany lost to Croatia, meaning they need to beat Austria to go through to the next...

Hans-Jörg Butt agrees switch to Bayern? I rated him highly at this time with Bayer, but since then he has only played 1match all year for Benfica. Plus he's 34? Maybe he play a mentor type role for young Rensing. Best wishes for Germany at Euro! As long as Italy don't win, I'm happy. Like...

Paolo, you're pictures are great to view. Schlaudraff is also on his way out, to Hannover. What a waste of time this year has been for him and for the club. I will miss Lahm, but boy Lell has improved out of sight.

Great post, ShiftyPowers. But what makes you say De Rossi won't come to Germany? We managed Toni, and indeed Ribery. The team next season looks to be the best we've had in many years. So potent in attack and solid in defence, with speed and class out wide. Perfect.

Ha ha.. yes, very wishful thinking indeed. I sure hope Sven doesn't leave. He's been instrumental in us climbing up the ladder.

What a week its been for Bayern!! The drama in Spain and then to smash our nothern rivals!! Couldn't be any better. Let's hope we don't become complacent and think we'll be able to do it again in the German Cup final! I'm sure the players will be up for it.. this is Bayern baby !!!!

A poor result. Only managed to see the highlights, and it seemed that Getafe played out of their skins, and that an equaliser was always on the cards. Tough ask in the second leg, to score a goal and win. Where is Sagnol?

Played like rubbish, again. There's no way we would have lost this game earlier in the season. Nobody (except for Elano, maybe) played with any conviction or pride. We have the best striking combo at the moment with Castillo/Benjani and Vassell coming off the bench, yet we can't score...

Paolo, you're probally right about having at least 4 great CB's. Rensing deserves a shot at number 1. I guess if we end up finding a replacement for Rensing, if he fails, that means Thomas Kraft must not be in favour, at all. How old is he anyway?

Happy with the draw with Bolton. Should pick up 3 points against Birmingham City, and then a tough game against Chelsea - another point would be a great result there. The midfield doesn't seem too effective of late. Good to have Johnson back, mind you. Elano did well when he came on...

Demichelis is in his first season as CB - and has done a wonderful job. van Buyten may wan't to leave, to be honest. He's had a good run in the 11 of late, but unless injuries take place to Demi and Lucio, he will be on the bench for the remainder of the season. And with young Breno too, he...

Great win today. The last of the 'top of the table' clashes for the year. Easy win in the end, we shut Bayer down all day. That being said, it was a shame for Kahn to let in that late goal. He and Ribery were amazing, again! On a negative, in recent weeks, it looks as though van Bommel is...

I was wondering what that banging sound was during the minute silence! The game was played in the right spirit - BUT what a WIN!! Pity we let in that late goal - as 3-0 in two clashes would have looked better. But now I'm just being picky. Dunne was amazing at the back. In fact, all the...

Stuttgart put 3 passed us earlier in the season. And Bolton and Red Star Belgrade put 2 passed us in UEFA Cup. Apart from those games, its been a minimum of 1 goal.

Boy do we need him. At present, we are relying on an 18 year old with 3 matches experience, up front. Our defence is looking very shaky. It's hard to think we need another CB with Richards and Dunne, but maybe we do? Keep them on their toes at least.
