Career mode only seems to work when calendar start date is 2017 :/

In my cmsettings.ini file, the calendar start year is 2017 but I tried to change it to 2018 but it causes career mode to crash when creating a brand new one. It only ever seems to work when the calendar start year is 2017.

I know I can just start at 2017 and sim forward to 2018 but I would rather just be able to start career mode in 2018, or even 2019. But I would like to know what's causing it to crash because I'm so confused... :\

But I'm not sure exactly what I'm supposed to do with the settings.txt file. Do you know how I would go about making the changes???

Edited: I'm just realising, will I need to install the HBZ Career Mode mod? Because I don't have that mod installed on my FIFA 14...
