Attribute Editing

Hey guys, I'm putting this thread here as it's the most active part of the forum and it does apply to fifa 18 as well as others..

Over the past couple of weeks I have been editing database attributes to try and make the gameplay more realistic and wanted to share my thoughts as well as ask opinions from others as ultimately we all want the same thing - which is as realistic a gp as possible.

One realisation I have come to as no matter how hard Fidel, Paul, Supernova etc try there is very limited (if any) changes that can be made solely by editing the CL file.

At the moment I am working solely on defence attributes so the CPU players do not run around like headless chickens on crack trying to get the ball..

I have downgraded all midfielders to the following ranges:
Standing tackle = 0 to 40
Sliding tackle = 0 to 40
Aggression = 1
Interceptions = 1
Marking = 0 to 30

Strikers to:
Standing tackle = 0 to 20
Sliding tackle = 0 to 20
Aggression = 1
Interceptions = 1
Marking = 0 to 10

Defenders:
Standing tackle = 40 to 70
Sliding tackle = 30 to 80
Aggression = 1
Interceptions = 1
Marking = 30 to 70

The above make a bug difference to the flow of my game, next I will try mental attributes.

Anyone else got any ideas on this?

When you edit Reactions, give everybody a 40 rating and look at the difference in the way players attack loose balls.

Privileged that the legendary Rcat has commented on my thread :)

I will try that, from your experience what does that do?

It reduces the amount of battles lost to the CPU and increases physical play during the battle for the ball.
Reactions are the attribute that determines who gets to loose balls first and it is all it does.

Do the same with the Aggression attribute, the difference in play is worth the edit.

Read this, I have had this for years and never shared it but I am done with FIFA and would still like to see it's community move forward.

Thanks Rcat, valuable information. It does my head in when my left back ends up on the right wing so ccpositioning looks the one to edit. I think build up play speed is unrealistic but problem is when you drop it sub 20 then all free kicks and corners are played short.. lol can't win!!

FB on Rcats suggestions is certainly very positive, I am getting a lot more battles in midfield now (in fact all around the pitch) where players are grappling for the ball - thanks mate!

I'm also trialling balance and interceptions at 1 for all players, not sure if placebo but this seems to add to the unpredictability of my game.. will try and take a vid over coming days and stick on to YouTube.

Anyone have any other suggestions..??

Another quick point and not sure if someone can help....

I find that there are too many headers and shots that tend to hit the woodwork.. is there some code when can stop this or changing an attribute?

One more thing I've noticed.. anyone else experience crosses being overhit like 80% of the time? I've tried reducing power up rate to 5 but no difference really

Also does anyone know which settings ensure that crosses are less loopy and overhit - I'm happy to do the research and report results to help others if anyone let's me know

Close to giving up guys, not sure how much of this game is placebo as I've not managed one decent game today using same settings. I had the same thought process as Fidel with making players taller and heavier but the frantic pace of the game along with predictable CPU ai moves does make this unplayable.

At least you feel in Pes that anything can happen during a match which FIFA doesn't have due to the much talked about scripting.

Part of the problem is that the Pes community are more active and ready to help one another to reach their realism gameplay goal whereas here in FIFA there are too many Wenger style voyeurs who choose not to participate.. oh well as they say you can lead a horse to water but......

I, too, gave up on trying to make FIFA 18 fun. Have ended up going back to 17

Hoping that 19, with the new difficulty, will present more of a challenge in career mode. Otherwise, maybe my FIFA days are over :-(
