update 3.9.67

I just installed the latest update for Champ Man 01/02, so far it's looking pretty sweet.

One thing i've noticed is that they've really gone wild on the youth side of things.. at Man Utd i have a striker who's only 13 years old, and Portsmouth have a 14 year old on their books, and there are literally hundreds of 15 year olds on the game too!

sigames seem to have got caught up in the Rooney hype too, he's 15 years old, a star player and worth £2.3 million! His potential is -2 though.. does this mean he's going to burn out???

The only thing that still niggles a bit is that you can't change the start year to 2002, that would make it perfect. And of course the new transfer window isn't implemented which in my opinion is a good thing, that will take loads of the fun out of the game!!

Now to snap up Rooney, Voulgaris, Davenport, Robben, Samba and Aghahowa before they become famous and expensive

Also Aghahowa's stats have fallen significantly.
Rooney won't be let go by Everton on that, i think -2 means he becomes a world class player no matter what.
Many of the players may have changed as well Voulgaris may not be as good as he is on the normal upatched version

and i just noticed i have 52 players in my squad!! I don't know if the board will even let me buy any more!!

Is there ever any sence in having so many stars on your team, I would rather have a couple so they could play all the games instead of rotating major stars to where they only play 15-20 games when they would normally get 30 some games

i thought you could only have 50 players maximum in your squad at one time!
You'll have to sell quite a number of players before you make any purchases

ok i recounted, and i have 48 regulars plus 2 greys in my squad!! I think it's time i released a few of the kiddies and replaced them with better ones!!

I also noticed that Luke Steele is a free agent on the game for some reason, even though man utd signed him ages ago!! I am trying to sign him now (my 7th keeper) but another 20 something clubs have also offered him a contract!!

there are always young players on frees from big clubs, it hink its like the worst of the youth batch get chucked on free transfer.
You won't be allowed to fill up the two free spaces of your squad either till you get rid of a few kids.
Not allot of the youth players are much good anyway, you could make a bit of money selling them onto lower division clubs though

well i gotta admit i cheated a little... i used the save game editor to find out who has potential and who doesn't, then freed all the rubbish players. lol i actually had a keeper with current rating 85 potential rating 85!! he's gone now..

now i'm signing all my hot prospects and big stars to 10 year contracts so I won't be affected by the impending transfer regulation change!

See but that defeats the whole point of Championship manager!
I do take advice from friends but i never go on editor to find out what a players future and ability is exactly like

well normally i'd agree with you, but when you start the game with about 20 15 year olds on your books, you gotta get rid of the crap, and none of my coaches would comment on the players because they are new to the database and they have no knowledge about them. So i checked them out and got rid of the crap ones to make space for new signings. Won't do it again though, it was a one-time deal.

does anyone know a good place to download the latest patch for 01/02 ? all the links on the si website never work or fully download! im not a happy bunny at all...................

No thats not what -2 means. There waqs a thread about this before.
In potential Ability 0, -1 and -2 are random. -1 means that its more likely to be higher than 0, and -2 means higher again. It doesnt neccesarily mean that it WILL be better though, just mroe likely.

Just a question on the patch, does the updated Database include James Milner from Leeds? He, along with Rooney are Englands two biggest teen stars at the moment in my opinion. Milner broke Rooney's record for youngest EPL player this season, and has about 50 days left to score, to break Rooney's youngest EPL scorer record

One thing that I had to change though was Gilberto Silva was still on his Brazilian team instead of Arsenal.

yeah, they haven't done as well as i would have liked with transfers. They actually put about 6 of Man Utd's reserves (Kieran Richardson, Mark Lynch, Paul Tierney, Danny Pugh among others) in the game but then made them free agents for some bizarre reason, choosing instead to put loads of unknown 15 year olds in the Man Utd squad instead.. it wouldn't surprise me if they've done this to the other squads too.

Pawel Brozek isn't included in the new version...
It's cool with all the young players, though...
