FIFA officials arrested, face extradition to United States

I thought it was lame like pretty much every one since the very first ones. You guys are tainted with patriotism. This is the equivalent of Xaviesta's one-word reactions to whatever inane thing a Barca player has said/done.

Team Captain
The Uruguay players' union wants FIFA to rescind Luis Suarez's international ban after claiming him to be a victim of alleged corruption within the body.

What a bunch of fucking douchebags.

I feel like if one of the big dominoes, and it'd probably be England or Germany, fell a lot of others would follow pretty quickly. Very unlikely it'd come to that though.

Make America Great Again
I like the proposal that the article outlines, and I agree that it would have to be UEFA en masse (or nearly en masse, minus perhaps Russia). If they left, I think you could see several other nations bolt as well, for example USA, Mexico, Australia, Japan, and Korea.

At that point there would be a very respectable federation, and if they could attract Brazil and Argentina it's game over.

I also think such a split would be good for the MLS and some of the other lesser leagues in the nations that would split from FIFA.

All the guys that they've arrested are from the Americas. Would you really want an unchecked Conmebol or Concacaf drawn from OECD membership?

Ah yes, Mr. Bladder! It's good to finally meet you, after all these years of feeling you.

He feels his days are numbered because he promised to retire after five consecutive terms.

The Onion wrote an article about FIFA "hastily organizing" a World Cup to be hosted in the US this summer...Carlos Warner thought it was real.

The Von Trapps
it's amazing how, while FIFA the organization has its name dragged through the mud, EA Sports continue to make ridiculous bank on the governing body's endorsed and eponymous title ... I wonder, if/when these charges stick, it'll prompt a name change ...

well, a decade and a half *is* a pretty short time for a guy who is 579 years old ...
