Seems like we've rejected a bid from Chelsea for Rooney. 10 millions plus Mata or Luiz.

I'd love to see Mata at United and wouldn't give a fuck about Rooney leaving, but selling Rooney to another EPL side would be a bad choice. Unless it's Liverpool

Chelsea has confirmed they made an offer for Rooney that was rejected, but also said that the offer didn't include any players.

Not sure if anyone is dreaming about him in particular. We just need a midfielder. It's not like a douchebag dreaming about driving a SUV instead of a Prius, it's more like a kid in a village in Kenya dreaming about water instead of dying of dehydration.

Yes this is bullshit. Everyone knows that this transfer is unrealistic. We are certainly not "dreaming" of him. If the Mata + 10 millions rumour is true, why did we reject it? Mata would have been an excellent to play just behind van Persie. He can provide and score goals. Can play on the wings as well, an area we have been severely lacking last season.

EDIT: Mata was not included in the bid according to Mourinho and Chelsea.

Yeah I am not so impressed with Moyes in his first couple of weeks. 1) He really should have made more of an effort to sign Thiago. If, as he claims, he didnt want him, he should have done. 2) His comments about Rooney being backup to RvP are irresponsible and give the impression he wants to drive Rooney out. 3) He should not be trying to nickle and dime his former club on players he needs, the quicker he can get Fellaini and Baines in the dressing room the easier it will be to employ his methods amongst the squad.

Its the media who is making it look like Moyes wants him as backup. This is what he actually said:

“I think he’s got a major role to play because we need to try and get as many goals as we possibly can. I think Wayne can play up-top he can play dropped in. Overall my thought on Wayne is he’ll be key. If for any reason we had an injury to Robin. Robin, we are going to need him. I want to be able to play the two of them, I want to be able to use Danny Welbeck, Chicarito as well. The first year I think I have to get a chance to see (all the players) and how best to use them. It’s a chance for me to get Wayne right back to where he was. That’s the challenge and a challenge I want to take on. I’ve also got to make sure it’s not just him and we don’t concentrate on him. Manchester United isn’t about Wayne Rooney.”

This does not mean that he wants to bench Rooney as backup. What he is trying to say is that if van Persie gets injured, Rooney will be needed to be the main striker. This does not mean that Rooney will not be a starter. I think Rooney will start games as second striker behind van Persie and when van Persie gets injured, he will be the main striker.

Why would he say that Wayne Rooney is "key" but will only be a backup?

I mean, I don't mind players trying to get a better contract or get more playing time by saying they'd consider leaving. Rio did it and I still love him, same for Rooney after the first time, but if you keep insisting on that you're a **** in my eyes and should fuck off.

If we get a good deal from PSG or any other foreign teams, we should let him go. I still think he is the most important player for us but I think it's time for him to leave. It would be good not only for him but for the team as well. We'll do ok without him, like we did with departures of Beckham, Cantona and Ronaldo.

By the way, Moyes said this in this morning's press conference:

"When I got the job, I was made aware of what could possibly be done to improve things.

"Signing a midfield player was one area where we thought we could possibly add to the squad.

"It's hard to get top quality players who can come in and affect your team. That's why we're trying to go for what we see as the right players and the best players.

"If you're a player and you're brought up to play football, and you look out of the window and see Old Trafford, if you've got any ambitions about being a footballer, and you're a top-end one, then I think you'll want to play for Manchester United."

Are we FINALLY going to look for a new midfielder? Despite all the problems we have had in this department, our last central midfielder signing was Hargreaves in 2007. We signed Kagawa but he is more of an attacking midfielder / second striker / winger than a midfielder.

Just saw the all stars A League v/s Man Utd game. We won 5-1. Great training game, especially for the youngsters. Lingard, Zaha and Januzaj all had good games. Lingard played as AM/SS and scored 2 goals and made 1 assist. Zaha is a bit like Valencia with some tricks. He really needs to work on his finishing though. He had 2 clear cut chances and should have scored both. He made some dangerous crosses which could have lead to goals.
