I only care about fakes if the quality is really worse, or not. Otherwise I generally don't care much anyway. It's often made in the same style factories in Asia anyway

Well, it depends. Most clothing manufacturers have moved to the third world now, even the brands that are considered more high end. And sorry, but their clothing is usually worse (although a lot of that is inferior material as well), it's just that we don't really have GOOD clothing to compare it to anymore. I don't know ANYONE who works in textile manufacturing, I don't even know where they would have a factory, but that wasn't always the case when shipping costs were prohibitively expensive.

Even on good clothes I'll find loose threads, or color fading with a few washes, or whatever. Made in USA, Made in England, Made in Italy are usually marks of quality (although Italy is more of a crapshoot). I know nothing about Australian made clothes, and you're closer to SE Asia anyway.

The proof is that you will never find a high end suit that was made in China. They're all England or Italy or USA. There's a reason for that.

Yeah, I agree. That said, high end suit, cut is as important as anything, unless you're wearing it all the time.

I see so many people in ill-fitting suits. And it looks ridiculous. Even if it is a good brand.

As I said, I'm not saying to only get knock offs. I'm saying that if the main brand is the same quality anyway, then you're better off to get a knock off, then spend a fortune on the real deal, which is made in Taiwan (or wherever) anyway.

When I go to Thailand, I VERY often get myself a load of nice tailored shirts though. I sometimes bring my own fabric (that way I know it's cotton or whatever), get them tailored and fitted properly, and be really strict with the tailor with what I want (and check EVERYTHING).

Such a good way to get good, cheap shirts, that fit really well, are whatever colours and designs I want etc.

It's not the craftsmen that make Asian quality worse, it's attention to detail, and the amount they're expected to pump out. If you're very particular, you get what you want.

Well, most of the mass produced garments I'm talking about are made by children. I'm certainly not talking about bespoke tailors in the East.

But your point about suits is huge, of course. Fit beats everything else aside from dated fashion. I pick up Carlos*ets at thrift stores (and the pants if I can find them, which is very rare) because the material is made to last forever. Just wore a Hickey Freeman Carlos*et around for the first time today when I was shopping and was a little self conscious about the sleeves which are maybe 0.5-1.0 inchs too short and everything else fits pretty perfect. Funny thing is that maybe 1 person I passed would have probably known the proper length because men just do NOT wear suits that fit. Luckily there appears to be enough sleeve material to have it altered at my local tailor. I'm thinking about having all my dress shirts tailored as well actually.

Is anyone knowledgeable about denim? I'm intrigued by the idea of raw denim that I can break in and basically mold to my own body. I don't think I'd crack eggs and **** on my jeans, but I'd sleep in them for 6 months. I'm just confused by raw and selvedge and don't know if they are used interchangeably or if they are different and what I should be looking for.

What I want is a pair of dark jeans that I can break in so they look like they fit me perfectly. Should I be looking at raw, selvedge, raw selvedge? What? And then almost more importantly, if most of the fit is determined by me breaking them in, does the company really matter? Could I just buy a cheap pair of Wranglers?

I'd probably recommend APCs for that. Really popular on Styleforum, because of good fit, and they're good for breaking in. Don't know that much about it though.

Yep. Fit is huge, and you see so many idiots with money, and a really nice Ted Baker or Armani (just random examples) suits, which they don't have fitted. It looks ridiculous, but they think they look great, as they're wearing a brand.

Unless you wear a suit often enough to wear it out, go cut over fabric every time. If you're rich enough, get a good fabric suit made for you, or a good brand of the shelf tailored to you, but otherwise, a cheap tailored suit craps on an over priced that doesn't fit. As I said, one of the best parts about my 6 trips to Thailand in the past 7 years, is getting shirts, suits and pants made, and I also often take some brand shirts I've picked up from the bargain rackforthem to recut. Never buy anything too small though, only too large. Always a risk how much something too small can be taken out.

Just wondering if anyone knows of any reliable Japanese clothing websites that ship to North America? I looked into Rakuten, but it seems a bit dodgy. Why Japanese, well, I don't have a big frame, and always seem to be in-between small and medium sizes, with compromises often having to be made, never a perfect fit. It was suggested to me to look into Japanese/Korean brands that have better proportions for smaller frames.

Just found yesstyle.com, seems interesting so far

Rakuten is definitely legit afterall they do headline sponsor a ATP tennis tournament in Tokyo every year.

Can someone please buy this Carlos*et

http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Ben-She...77?pt=US_CSA_MC_Outerwear&hash=item19cf70f251

I'm not the seller and I don't know the seller, I was just looking around on ebay tonight for random stuff. They ship worldwide from NYC, and I think the US Dollar is still pretty terrible, so it will be a good deal... hell I think $90 is already a pretty great deal for a 100% cotton Ben Sherman Harrington Carlos*et. I just think this thing is seriously awesome and I'm not going to buy it, so I want someone I know to get it.

I don't have $100 to spend on a spring Carlos*et! I'm looking at raw denim and just bought some white suede bucks, and I already have that bomber Carlos*et for spring/fall.

Plus, if truth be told, it might be a little too Mod for me right now. I love the mod style, but it does seem like I'm outgrowing it a little.

Fair enough. I'm not a huge Ben Sherman fan, but I have always wanted a personal shopper so if you come across anything else to recommend please do!

I have tons of stuff on my ebay watch list, but to be honest I'm hoping to buy them all for myself. Right now the only outstanding bid I have is $9.99 for some Burberry Paisley shirt which I think would be really nice in the summer and for $10 is a steal.

Only problem is that you need to have some idea of what you're looking for, which can be difficult if you're not really looking for anything! Also, after realizing how ill fitting one of my shirts was today, I've resolved to never buy a dress shirt in a standard size anymore, so that cuts out a lot of cheaper options.

EDIT: Oh, and if anyone sees a thin Nautical Striped Sweater at a reasonable price, let me know. Should be a white or off white background with navy horizontal stripes. Don't want the navy background with the white stripes.

Bought these two shirts last night from Pull&Bear:

I really like the second one, the fit is perfect. Now next on my shopping list are a pair of camo shorts, but I can't seem to find any in this city. :(

Participated in a styling competition on JC's website (Swedish jeans/clothes store, have their own brands, as well as Nudies, Levi's, etc). Yesterday I got the call, that I won a 150€ gift card. :)
