I was going to be SO MAD if Chelsea had won on that absurd penalty kick, luckily the soccer gods set things to rights.

If we win both games this week you guys are gonna be done and dusted.

Chelsea are back, I'm telling you. You could see it in the second half, Spurs were scared in their own park. For a team whose greatest strength is running down the wings, they resorted to long balls because Ferreira and Cole took care of Bale and Lennon. Unfortunately, I only see uphill for Chelsea from here.

Ancelotti already fired the first shots for next week by saying that "they will win the next game". But first United has to take care of Arsenal, hopefully.

Really gutting results against Everton and Tottenham - both games we deserved to win. Drogba is a man who never hits bad penalties, yet his one against Tottenham was pathetic. This is the first time in our recent history a run of bad form has coincided with a severe run of bad luck. Also, very very unlucky to have the United match postponed, I am confident we would have risen to the challenge with important players back and a win there could have propelled us right back to top form.

We do, however, appear to be severely lacking in depth. At present, our 'big' game changing 60 minute substitution is Sturridge, and there's no one else, and that's not good enough. Kalou and Mikel should not be starters, they should be big injections of pace and strength from the bench, even Anelka is really no better than a bench player. We need a couple of big signings soon.

Here's an odd idea, but why dont we make a bid for Adebayor? City dont need him (well, they might now Tevez is being a ****) so we could probably pick him up for £20m. Imagine him and Drogba up front, two huge black bastards to rip through any defence, and he can learn from Drogba, taking over his role when the big man gets too old.

Also, what is the verdict so far on Ramires?

Agree on Kalou, hugely disagree on Mikel and Anelka. Mikel last season, maybe, but this season he's established himself as a great player. Having a player like Mikel, or Anelka for that matter, on the bench, would mean that our entire midfield and attack are world-class, something that I wouldn't mind, but they don't need substituting.

The Ade ideam is absolutely retarded, especially for that price. 10m at most, and that's assuming we go for him, which is stupid. Playing two strongmen isn't effective, if you figure out how to stop one, you've stopped the other. Ade's attitude is poor, too, and unless he takes over from Drogs, and I'd be astounded if he ever gets that good, it's a silly move. We should be looking at potential substitutes, but not Adebayor.

Ramires is as good as a track player. He runs, and runs, and runs, and contributes nothing else. Our worse player so far this season, IMO, and absolutely overpriced.

Jones and...? Fuller? Walters? Gudjohnsen? None of them is a strongman, Fuller does not rely on his strength as much as you might think, he's quite technically gifted.

Not to mention that we shouldn't be using tactics used by Stoke anyway.

So......the rot continues. Ramirez and Kakuta are hardly game saving substitutions in my opinion. Very poor performances indeed once again from most of the team.

Can't see this mess sorting itself out very soon this season either. We haven't been this bad for years....blah blah blah......:-(

Since Pre-Roman days to be exact. I guess that's what happens when you make your team dependent on spending money and then suddenly cut off the cash supply.

Another terrible showing. Perhaps the Utd game was called off for our own good. Too casual at the back, and it took 3 Arsenal goals for us to wake up.

Kalou did nothing for me once again. Malouda and Mikel were huge letdowns. Bane was the only player worth of a positive note.

Looks like we need to reassess our priorities this season. Title is probably out of our reach with the way things are going, 3rd place should be the primary target for the remainder of the season. Squad is simply not good enough to challenge on all fronts and I doubt we'll reinforce in January.

If it only it were that simple, prior to last season we didn't spend a massive amount of money but still got the title. The idea of blending youth is good actually but we had to replace the players we let go and we didn't to any extent. Ramires in for Deco, Ballack and Belletti? I honestly hoped it work out somehow, but it hasn't. No replacement for Carvalho's quality either, and Benayoun's season was over just when he looked so promising. I thought we could've kept Ballack(decision was veto'ed by the club, Carlo wanted him to stay) but too late to ponder what might have been.

On top of that, our top players themselves have been in terrible form for the past 7 weeks. Surely it can't be a coincidence that it happened to the lot of them at the same time. Add the off-field shenanigans relating to the departures of both Butch Wilkins and Arnesen, and the papers thought we were in a crisis and suddenly now the players are believing that.

Cock. ****. ****.

We're paying for failing to replace our players, and without any quality on the bench, nor any drive from the first-team, it's no wonder we're ****e. Ramires, Kalou and Paulo are starters for christ's sake. That said, absolute shambles from the defense, and the entire team seemed to give up by the 30 minute mark. Cech, Terry, and Bane were pretty good and it still wasn't any good. Lamps looked promising, but I can hardly expect more from him right now.

Absolute crap, to let Theo ******* Walcott steal the show. Let's hope we manage a 3rd place finish and not lose our CL money.

When you don't spend it wouldn't show right away right. Arsenal's bench was more dangerous than yours??????!!!!?!?!?! Even if your youth excelled, you still didn't buy anybody with decent experience to help through.

First of all our youth hasn't excelled, at least to what the club expected, apart from McEachran. Its been a painfully slow process. Kakuta's contract is sorted out, hopefully he could keep his head down and work his way through.

Replacing players probably equals to buying players but to elaborate further, I thought we approached it the wrong way. We should've considered our options before letting go players who served us well in the past.

Deco and Belletti wanted to leave for personal reasons, Ballack definitely wanted to stay and I would take him over Ramires anytime now. -_-
We definitely should've replaced or swapped Carvalho looking back. What difference it would make if it weren't Ferreira in CB against Sunderland.
But then again, hindsight is always 20/20. :p

I thought Benayoun getting injured was unfortunate because he definitely looked like he was capable of contributing more than Joe Cole had last season.

To be fair, Josh hasn't exactly excelled. Although he's clearly got talent and is being bled in nicely. But when our entire bench is comprised of youth players, we need them to step up, and there's no reason for them to carry that burden. We should've spent more, or held onto some players.

Oh, Wilkins fiasco is most definitely a key factor.

Well, considering he's the only bright spot that we have in our youth setup I say he has excelled to some extent, especially since the pre-season hype was with Kakuta(MVP at under 19 euros was it?).

Anyways, Bolton up next. We desperately need the 3 points, ugly or not, fortuitous or not, we need the win.

I just don't want people to overhype him. He's very talented, he's the best of the bunch probably, but he's not there yet.

Well, nice hard fought win over Bolton. We got lucky I have to admit, but we deserved a bit of luck with the way things have gone lately.

Drog was probably offside in the build up to the goal, but it was hard to tell, in any case, linesman are encouraged to give the attacking player the benefit of a doubt, blablbala.

Terry got away with a shot that hit his arm, albeit unintentional, have seen those given this season.
Bolton were quite dangerous with Holden and Elmander and I have to admit, Iva and Terry aren't looking as good as the Terry/Alex partnership.

Ramires played well, to my surprise, had great drive and showed great energy throughout 90mins. Essien improved from the Arsenal performance. Lampsy still looks ragged in front of goal, but I reckon he'll be banging them in soon.

And what a difference Bosingwa makes, with him in the side, both our fullbacks look complimentary to each other. Cole had a great game also.

All in all, 3 points finally!

P.S - With Arsenal and Utd kind enough to give us 2 points back, it doesn't seem that bad after all.

@Az - Don't think people will overhype Josh since he's a Chelsea player. Sure there's hype, but he would be getting more if he were an Arsenal/Liverpool/Utd player. :D
