btw, I'm gonna post this quote here coz I really like it. It's from Bobby btw.

"Remember all those times Thierry was racially abused, and rather than make a fuss he forgave the people? That's the real Thierry Henry."

ok, Henry's Barca player but he should be banned.

please don't defend him. He showed his true color, at least he could apologise for his action but he didn't and he blamed ref, earth and sky ...

please don't mix things ...

And Help, don't you think that a line needs to be drawn sometime to make an effort to eradicate cheating? Yeah corrupt FIFA could have sorted this out long ago if they really believed in "Fair Play", but the truth of the matter is that the status quo suits FIFA. This is how they have manipulated the game in their favour for years.
Sure. i'd love that. It will just never happen. As long as money is around, we are doomed. How long has Blatter been in charge of FIFA btw? like 10 years? Time for another corrupt crook to replace him soon.

this general blaming of Platini seems a little ridiculous to me, and more slanderous than based on any verifiable facts ... hopefully they are intended to be humourous and not malicious

Malicious actually

I also read in one of the posts here (pede's, I think) that the playoffs were one way that FIFA tried to get France into the World Cup? completely wrong, because the playoffs have existed for a while now as part of qualification ...

it was FIFA's decision to seed the play-offs just one or two matchdays before the end of the group stage that was the scandulous decision, and I agree 100% that rules set at the beginning of the qualification must not be changed, lest they compromise the integrity of the rules in the first place -- as clearly they have been in the public eye right now ...

My bad I meant seedings for the playoffs and not the playoffs themselves.

anyway, I think Henry is to blame as much as the official ... desperation is not an excuse for the player (imagine a crunching tackle ending another player's career, committed by a defender, moments from the end of the match, out of sheer desperation ... would you forgive him?), just as incompetency is not excusable on the part of the officiating ... the English fans especially are obliged to agree, because they still blame Maradona and not the referee for the hand of god goal scored against them ...

whatever be the case, Ireland got robbed, and I really feel for them ...

This was a part time ref, who works as a fireman. Now was he really ever gonna be good enough for a game of this importance? Of course not and that is why he got the job in the first place. Sadly this isn't the first time that an inexperienced/incompetent ref has been deliberately chosen to officiate big games for Fifa or Uefa. They do it all the time and they always have.

I still insist that Henry created this mess and he really needs to be made an example of. Severly punishing a high profile cheat like Henry, will echo around the World and send out a clear message that it is not to be tolerated. Then we can hopefully see the beginning of the end of this sickening behaviour.

Millions of kids look up to this guy. Is this what he wants to show them? Even tonight he lied, as he changed his story once again and actually laughed when descibing the event. He's not even sorry. What a tragic example he sets to kids with his lack of fairness, honesty and integrity.

Mind you I thought Platini said after the Eduardo diving thing, that from now on, decieving the referee would always be punished. So here's the chance for Blatter and Platini to show us once and for all if they are men or mice.

I'll put my money on the latter.

Or, if you would be in Henry's place, you would stop the game and say: I played with hand?

That's for sure. None from this thread would've told the ref he played the ball with his hand in a WC qualifier game... I appreciate that Henry recognized he played the ball with his hand after the game. So many players don't do that.

I'm not mixing things. Henry cheated. That's a fact.

He should have been punished for that. This is another fact.

But, I'm not gonna say that he's a bastard because he used his hand to score a goal. Never.

If he was man enough to do that, he could open a new chapter in "fair play" history. there are some example who did that Klose, Di Canio ...

I expect it from a man like Henry to not do a cheat at the first place ... rather that saying the bul**** that you said "I played with the hand".

I don't want to defend Henry. His gesture was horible, but it came from reflex. But don't you think you'd rather open a new chapter in your NT history than in the 'fair play history'? The goal was so decesive. They qualified for the most important football competition on this planet.

well Henry apparently said that the replay would be fair for Ireland and France.

Well I think that can help him to keep some of his reputation but Fifa should blame the ref as well, I'm agree with Arnau, why nobody blames the ref, maybe because nothing will happen except few bans for Irish!!!

btw, can we discuss this in just one thread.

and what will happen to Gallas in England, he scored that goal!!!!

Nothing, it's England. Nothing happened when Ronaldo got Rooney sent off, and Ronaldo actually played in England.

it's the most stupid comment I've ever seen. Ronaldo got booed in all EPL matches he played after that (expect Old trafford), maybe you're deaf.

Even Becks got criticized by England fans after his red card in WC 1998.
