Usain Bolt sets world record (again)

He won the World Juniors in Kingston as a 15 year-old in the 200m. He's been pushed, pulled and prodded to run the 400m, but so far he only does that in training.

I don't know if he'd be the machine he is in the 400m, although I reckon he'd be in every final, probably even win them, just not this easily. I think. **** it he'd do it.

Bolt is an entertaning genius. Not only his ability or running to look as 'Not a human' but his attitude (I think that made his record) approves that too :D
He is a definite new generation sprinter ^^ and I guess it would be possible for him to set 18's on 200m race soon.

Oh, he was quite lucky at first start of 200m (?) because of a flying start of other player. His reaction rate at first time was 0.2 seconds slower than the fastest guy.

And he's gona keep breaking his own records, hopefully year after year which is gonna be amazing to watch in the future. He didn't give it his all on neither of the competitions, incredible...he's just reserving him self untill he sets freekish marks like 9.4/18.8 who knows???

Do people think he will hold the world records for an incredibly long time? Like decades? Or that being tall will become a requirement of top level sprinting, and more 6'5''(+?) guys will emerge in 10 years or so, inspired by Bolt?

I can't see how anybody with significantly shorter legs is ever going to be able to better him, but perhaps if really athletic, co-ordinated very tall guys (maybe pro basketball players?) were properly muscled up and trained for sprinting, one day one could get close?

It's hard to know if he's a total freak of nature or just the first of a new shape of sprinter. Either way though, legend.

If that is really what he's doing, then he's making a mistake. He's going to get slower with age.....not faster. He better do his best now because he will not be this fast when he gets 2 or 3 years older.

IMO that would be a mistake, because an ahlete earns 100 000 $ every time he brakes a world record, so it wouldn't be smart to give his best right now.

First of all, $100,000 is beans for him........

Second, if he were to break the record 3 times in total, does it really matter if the three years come back-to-back-to-back or if they come at 2 year intervals? No....as long as they come. The more he keeps "teasing" everyone(and himself), the more he is worsening his chances of breaking it 3 times.....he might only do it twice!

It is a fact that Jamaican sprinters get better with age... Merlene Ottey was doing world-class times well into her 40's. At 22-23 your muscles have not yet developed into what they will become with full maturity. In any case, in a television interview after the 4 x 100m win, Bolt said he was a bit tired, because he was not in the shape he had hoped to be for the championships.

It's funny how he keeps on breaking world records yet you always get that feeling that he isn't giving it his best.
