Liverpool played really great last season and you were so close to win it. It's very disappointing that Alonso left Liverpool (All Alonsos suck), his team mates and fans, while his stay could be very effective for next season. Newbie made the point in previous post about him.

I'm curious to see how Rafa will react, will he put Gerrard on midfield and buys a new forward or he will buy a player like Aquilani or De Rossi.

I wish the worst of lucks to Alonso on Madrid, not because he left us but because he didn´t managed his transfer situation in the best way, he should have told Liverpool that he wanted to go to Madrid from the beginning... BTW i think Rafa will buy a CM like Aquilani, instead of putting Gerrard on midfield and buying a new striker, but you are never sure when you manager is Rafael Benitez.

Oh, and the paper talk says we are close on signing Cristhian Poulsen from Juventus...I don´t know, i rather Aquilani as Alonso replacement than Poulsen, maybe because Poulsen is 29 and Aquilani has more future but i´m sure we can´t replace X.Alonso so easily.

Aquilani is ok but IMO not worth 20m €. He's too injury prone. Poulsen played great with Schalke and Sevilla but last year he had some groin problems. This year he seems in good shape but we are full of mids so you could get him for 8m €.

Rafa wants a more established player. Quite frankly, I can't blame him for that. You can't have an inexperienced player in that role. We've already got a young CM in Lucas, and Rafa doesn't trust him.

I understand your point we need a experienced guy in that position, plus as mark77 said Poulsen would be cheaper than Aquilani...

I think it'd be good for us if Lucas had another season at Liverpool... he's still young, and while I think he's not fulfilling his potential, he's a decent player.

I think the same way, we should keep Lucas...besides Aquilani won´t be able for the start of the season due to his ankle problem and he is very injury prone so we shouldn´t sell Lucas.

Yeah, this preseason form we showed makes me very sad, but i hope we start better on the EPL.
