They do know that Roger Williams, one of the first Americans to call for the end of slavery, founded Providence Plantations, right?

We should change our name to "The Unified State of North Carolina, Mecklenburg, and the Atlantic Outer Banks" just to take the piss if they do it.

They're changing the state's name because our legislature has decided to stop doing anything that may even remotely help the state get out of the deep sh*t that we're in. That's why Rhode Island is home to 13% unemployment, an opressive tax structure for the poor and middle class, and a do-nothing government that only looks out for number one and number one's friends and business associates.
