Luke Didd thinks that using patches from here in FIFA games would be 'great!'

Luke Didd, FIFA PC producer, is on the EA forum talking to gamers and giving us news and answering questions. I made this post there;

An agreement between patchmakers and PC producers?

"A suggestion to speed the progress that the PC game is making (despite it seeming to be improving 2x as fast as Hossack's game);

Would it be possible for Luke Didd's team and the patchmakers to come to an agreement so that some patches could be introduced into the game? Some of the patches from FIFA 09 Forum - Soccer Gaming Forums
are incredible and have improved this year's game endlessly. Apart from the untucked shirt patch, the UCL and Europa League patch and the gameplay patch - they could all be very good in the game.

They have made switchers to adjust user made graphics such as crowds, lighting, grass, goalkeeper gloves, adboards. MonkeyDragon has some good work on there to. Maybe some of the stadiums on there could be of use. There's a lot of faces already in the correct format too.

I think that these features would be easy to include in the game and that if the agreement were made - the features not currently adressed could be fixed quickly until the EA team begins work on them.

What do you say? I'm sure most patchmakers would like the idea of this. ;)"

This was Luke Didd's reply;

"This would be great!

However, this would be very difficult for EA to support for lots of reasons, but mainly due to the testing required to everything released.

With that said, you never know what could be achieved in the future.

This is just my thoughts and NOT an official response.

Luke

may i ask him what the hell does ea canada knows about football? have they ever seen a football match? EVER?
the patches made by users here are way better than the actual game, and i'm not talking about license bs here, i'm talking mainly about AI and gameplay

so you tell Luke Didd to take a look at and try the patches done by SG users

hey now slowhand, no need for the Canadian and American soccer arguments :(
and honestly, most patches for any game are better than the actual game.

tom, don't take it too personal
is like if i try to play (or even worst, develop a game about) ice hockey or american football (SO SO SORRY, but i couldn't ever understand the rules of those games)

also, there are so many things that can be improved since fifa06 and so little that had improved since then
is about time that they start checking out the fan made patches to see what can be better to the game

and again, is not about the licenses. i'm not talking about why they don't add the Argentinian league or the greek league, but there are so many other things, appart from graphic development that can be improve, and there isn't much since 06

It has more to do with time/man power constraints for EA.

Anyways, I think that this would be great if the patch makers could earn a bit of extra $ from it somehow. They do it for free and it's a great service.

Btw is there an idea about collaborating patches which has published on SG for FIFA 2009 now? Season is almost done :innocent_smile_1:
