Player Guide FM 2009

Thread for posting your best finds. You can post any player you have bought, so long as they have done well for you, but the more obscure players are preferred. We all know C. Ronaldo would be a good buy - you dont have to tell us!

Keep posts to the following format if possible:

Notes: Any other important information, examples could include "difficult to get a work permit for british clubs" or "only good for a couple of seasons, perfect for promotion attempts" or "takes a long time to develop, but worth it" etc. Dont bother telling us things we can easily see from the stats, for example "excellent at free kicks" or "very fast" would not be necessary.)


Oh, one more thing, dont bother making a new post for every player but try to keep to a max of three or four per post.

Notes: Quite fast, not the best team work, surprisingly can score a few goals for a player who essentially is a winger. Decent free kicks. Tries tricks. Good for a team looking for a back up man who can play on either flank.

Bargain!

Second season so far, here it is:

Name: Daniel Carriço
Nationality: Portugal
Starting Club: Sporting Clube De Portugal
Age: 19
Position: C D
Approx Price to Buy: Dunno, I'm playing with Sporting Lisbon, however, if you try to get him at the start, he should be cheap. Maybe 2M.
Suitable for: Top tier clubs after 2/3 years.
Notes: Becomes an amazing defender. High marking, concentraiton and antecipation. Only second season in my club and he already stole Caneira from the 11-lineup, and right now, he is my best central defender.

Starting Club: Sporting Clube De Portugal

Position: DM
Approx Price to Buy: I'm playing with Sporting, so once again, I don't know. But he isn't cheap. Something around 17/20M have to be spent to get him.
Suitable For: Top clubs
Notes: He is a little overrated in this game compared to reality. He is easily one of the best central midfielders of the game.

Name: Diego Buonanotte
Nationality: Argentina
Starting Club: River Plate

Position: AM LC
Approx Price to Buy: I spent 12M, but I am in the second season, so he must be cheaper at the start.
Suitable For: Midtable clubs in major leagues, Important clubs in other minor leagues.
Notes: Bought him because Vukcevic got injured for 8 months, so i needed to find someone at his level. He is surprising me so far, very fast and creative player, and his potential is totally used when he's in free role. Better in the middle than in the left.

Anyway, Veloso has to be one of the best defensive midfielders in the game after a couple of seasons, surely...

I remember he was already pretty good in FM 2008 too.

Sorry for the off-topic in portuguese. Miguel Veloso in the first season is already one of the best DM of the game, for sure.

Notes: Transfer listed at the start of the game. Has the right stats to be able to make a fine winger. Perhaps a bit old, but if you're looking for a cheap solution to your winger problem, he's your man.

Notes: Very solid Turkish defender. Also pretty cheap, puts in fine performances for me night in night out.

Approx Price: Dunno as I loaned him, if you wanna buy him you'll probably have to pay rather big because the kid has some talent
Suitable For: backup for sub-top european clubs, starting eleven for midtable to minor teams.
Notes: Very good option if you need a backup for your AMC spot. I'm not sure wheter he's upto first team duties in his first season. Good option to loan for a season if you're a bit lower club and you need an AMC.

Age: 17
Position: M RLC
Approx Price: Dunno since I'm playing with Ajax, but I guess about 3-5m in the first season, not entirely sure though.
Suitable For: Top teams looking for talent
Notes: Beeing the brother of Wesley, we sure know where he got the talent from. Looks alot like him in fact and has already pretty impressive stats for a 17-year old and will only continue to grow more as the game progresses. Possible future star I think(also in real life BTW).

If you wait a couple of years you can get him free on a Bosman, Bordeaux rarely renew his contract.

Not quite - he has a potential of -9 so he should be good, but Lloris has potential of 185 so he's "fixed" at a higher level in general.

On my game my scouts say Lloris is 7*/7* for my team, but Asenjo is only 4* potential. My housemate has Asenjo down as a 6* though. (he plays as Man Utd)
