i love total football but there was no total football in orange shirts .. Russia (and Hiddink especially ) showed ppl how to play this game .. Really good match ..Russia could take it in 90 mins by the score 4-0 or 5-0 .. lubos michel helped Holland so much .. but Russia was the better side ..

As i sad before the Netherlands explode on Italy Frence and Romania but in the quarter finals they never came to the game.

Its not really a surprise to me. Congrats Russia, very well played. I had some doubts, cause they missed a lot of their scoring opportunities, but at least they made it. Its like i said, not a surprise, if you remember the outstanding performance of Zenit St. Petersburg at the UEFA-Cup. The dutch in the other hand played a very impressing group-stage, but you must admit, they always got in front early in the game, italy seemed to be stunned and their defense was clearly missing Cannavaro. In the other hand, almost every dutch counter-attack resulted in a goal. Same thing against France, which where able to give the dutch defense a hard time (its not an world-class defense). But they also missed a lot of their opportunities. Again almost every dutch counter-attack was a goal and then this lucky strike from Sneijder. You knew, it wouldnt go on like that.

Arshavin is a God.

IMO that Heitinga substitute turned out to become a complete disaster for the Dutch.

Brilliant Russia!! Absolutely a great game to watch, great refereeing, great football and Arshavin playing his skin out.
Horrible defending from the Dutch at times, and Russia gave them their own taste of Total Football.

Total agreed with you, I've seen these scenereos before.

If Spain win tomorrow, this will be the best tournament I've ever witnessed, because then I wouldn't mind any of the last 4 teams taking it all.

aw man, the dutch....how dissapointed am I? my last hope is spain but I think they'll lose...But you know what if the Russians can play like this in the semi's they will be worthy champions...and can anybody tell me where did Arshavin come from? the guy is amazing, I saw him some at St. Petesburg but My GOD! he is good....I picked Russia to be the sleeper pick and now we all see why!

I'm absolutely devasted we lost. But massive respect for Hiddink for performing again on a big tournament. Congratulations to Russia, I cannot say anything else but to say they won deservedly. From the 1st minute it never felt good. It was a very thrilling match, I'm still amazed I didn't get a heart attack somewhere in the middle. I noticed how the Russian squad had a much better condition than we did and we just got outrunned in extra time, the goal was going to come sooner or later.

Again I applaud Russia and their coach and I hope they go on to surprise the whole world and win this thing all together. They certainly play the best football of the five teams that are still in it.

Well done to Russia. It was touch and go at times for them in the early part of the first half, with the Dutch getting behind their defence so easily, but they rode the storm and outplayed Holland completely in the end.

I assumed the sleeper pick meant teams u can afford to sleep upon, but i gather thats not the case lol

You beat me to it. Looking back over the past quarter finals, it can be said that they just about deserve to be in the semi finals.
