Really happy with the Irish for this. How it could just happen in so many other countries without the citizens even being aware of it is ridiculous.

This treaty would basically turn Europe into a superstate and then....it's just not a good thing.

It was ridiculous, I heard one prick politician say something basically like "A small country like Ireland shouldn't be allowed to make such a big decision affecting Europe." WTF? You're trying to force them to do something they don't want and you've brainwashed other countries into accepting it with their citizens being completely unaware with what it's about.

The ridiculous thing is that they're gonna force a 2nd vote and make sure that this treaty does go through. They'll do whatever it takes, maybe rig it, to make sure that the Lisbon Treaty isn't stopped--->elitists

It's not surprising that Ireland would reject though, they've always been fiercely proud of being independent.

The real independance is when you don't need anybody to grow up.... That was not the reality for Ireland these last years, same for a lot of countries in Europe....

I think that this vote can be explained by the same reasons of the French or Dutch vote... Lack of informations from European politicians, and the fear of the new eastern countries.

No problem with that... that's great I think to help countries like Ireland for their growth. But I just regret that everybody here wrote that's great to say no to the Europe building without remembering of this part of Europe.

Ireland have less than 5% of jobless, one part is due to the Irish econmical and innovation, the other part is explained by the money and the advantaged gave by the UE....

It was the same thing with the French vote... that's too easy to make only critics without analysing that Europe protected our farmers from the world competition...

You see what I mean?

Why should we be forced into something that was not fully explained and our leader had not fully read. We won't be bullied by anyone.

Fortunately for us we're now taking an active role in Europe, thanks to our omnivoyant Premier Tusk, so we're getting less owned than the rest of you! Well we're still getting owned, but it just reaches us slower, because we sing nyah-nyah-nyah-nyah-nyah we're not listening! nyah-nyah-nyah-nyah-nyah! (H)
