Arsenal won the league only 4 years ago. I mean that's not that bad compared to every single Ligue 1 team except Lyon.

i don't understand how can you compare the premier league with our ligue 1, makes no sense, specially, when you seem to know little about l'OL and the ligue 1.

What's there to know? I have lost interest in the french league 2-3 years ago. Lyon has been the strongest team for the last 7 or 8 years, no team except them have won it in that time and yet people here are talking about Arsenal like its some long forgotten team that hasn't won a cup in decades, when they were league champions just 4 years ago.

PS. the fact that you are french or from france or any other connection you might have with france is unfortunate and completely irrelevant to my comparison, incase you are thinking that i picked on the french league on purpose.

i'm french, and i see how little you know about the ligue 1 and l'OL, l'OL is the richest team in france, not even le rats come close even though the velodrome is packed every weekend, and according to a players poll the PdP is the best park to play at, l'OL marketing schemes (which includes everything you can think of, even cologne....) assures them money to buy any player they want, besides that some (even among the press) feel that Aulas has some weight in the ligue, some people even call it the ligue 1 aulas, instead of its real name the ligue 1 orange. besides the laws in France made our ligue, a feeder ligue at best while the premier league is i think one of the richest leagues in Europe if not the richest; even then the cups in France haven't been won by l'OL during their league winning run.

why i say what i say about Arsenal?, because i used to like the way Arsenal played, but this team is not the same as those beautiful teams of years past, and seems like a waning team that nobody wants to make anything to get it to its winning ways, seriously you can't expect to go this many years without winning anything when you are a big team like Arsenal is, unless i'm mistaken and Arsenal is a mediocre team who is happy to compete and never win.

Yeah, sure you know more about French league, but then as you say Lyon has soooo much money compared to all the other teams. But this is not much different in England. Arsenal put in almost all their money into the new stadium, while United spent over 60-70 million pounds on players in 2 years and i don't even need to say how much Chelsea spent. They are in the money league of their own and Arsenal can't compete with them, for now at least. So you say they are mediocre because they never win and that's where i disagree. They won EPL ONLY 4 years ago and they won FA Cup 2 years ago. Sure they might have wanted to do better, but the money Wenger had to spend on players just couldn't be matched anywhere near what Ferguson and Mourinho had.

then why do the owners keep saying that money has never been an issue?

edit: i almost always end up reading that line every time somebody in the press questions Arsenal transfer policies.

I don't know, i never really read that so i can't tell you. But Arsenal put in something around 200-300 million pounds into their new stadium to ensure a healthier future, so its understandable that they don't have a lot to spend. You know the owners can say whatever they want to keep the fans and shareholders off their backs, but its easy to see that they can't financial compete in the transfer market with United or Chelsea.

in these forums man, read the whole thing before you answer...

well, arsenal user, arsenal fan, whats the difference, m8? is an arsenal user not an arsenal fan?
or have i got u wrong and that u r not an arsenal fan? in that case sorry m8 :thumbs up

btw, Adebayor is taking the whole thing well, he's still positive about their season despite Arsenal not winning a trophy, better than Gallas sulking about decisions and luck, even if it is true, the recent bad Arse results are also down to themselves...........

lol, Fabregas looks like he's gonna puke!!

Anybody here have Arsenal T.V. Online? If so they had a recent interview with Wenger where they asked him some interesting questions mainly one about Arsenal being linked with David Villa. I have a Mac so I can't subscribe, but if any of you have it could you just at least tell me what he said about our chances of getting David Villa.

As for the season in general I still think it has been a step in the right direction. Remember before the season started how some Arsenal fans were ****ting their pants that Henry had left, and that we'd maybe even finish outside the big 4.
Well not only have we improved greatly since last year, but we've put up a strong fight for the title and lost in a very unlucky two games to the team who may very well win the Champions League.

Yes, I'm still gutted that we haven't won anything, but our young players have learned a lot and I think we are in great shape for next year if we can again get off to a very good start.

BTW my honest opinion regarding Chelsea is that if they don't win anything, which they probably won't, next season they will have over a 60million pound fire sale with the likes of Drogba, Carvalho, and Essien all leaving, with no manager to boot.

You obviously have a really good contact at Chelsea if what you say is actually fact. I suspect you got it all from the Sun though, which makes you a very sad c*unt for repeating it.

And Arsenal's lack of trophies AGAIN this season is not about luck, good or bad. The EPL title race is not a sprint, it is a marathon, and for that you need enough players of quality to see you though. Wenger fu<ked up yet again and refused to buy players when he NEEDED to.

The reason Arsenal are once again potless is down to Wenger again. You like most Arsenal fans already have, need to accept that.

we weren't in the shout to win any trophy at the start of the season and look at us now, at a very enviable position, especially to you gooners. :lui:

Trust me I'm not at all worried about Chelsea. And you say to stop worrying about other teams, but then why do you keep reading and posting in the Arsenal thread?

And you're right at the beginning of our season we had such high expectations with Henry leaving and no big name signings to replace him, while you had no expectations with Jose Mourinho and a newly strengthened squad.
Yes, there were problems with Mourinho and Roman, but before the season started the majority of Chelsea fans were expecting trophies.

And Pede I don't have an inside contact at Chelsea, but there are certain players that you can tell by logic that if nothing is won are gone. You can also add to this list that a few players will also follow Mourinho to wherever he goes. I don't know this by fact, but by logic.
Finally I never said that we didn't win the BPL because of luck. I said that we were unlucky in the Champions League, but you have to be good enough so that you can't let luck determine your outcome. I agree that Wenger should have spent some money. There you are Pede an Arsenal fan saying that Wenger made a mistake.

and isn't it pure coincidence that the Chelsea players you mentioned are the players that have been a pain in the Arse?:D
The reason why I post here is because the lack of activity from u Gooners :amika: and also the fact that yer slagging us off, I see no reason why I can't react to that............

and of course chelsea fans expected trophies at the beginning, the same as any top 5 team in the premier league....no reason to be pessimistic m8....
Come on now, most of the people that live around me are gooners, yet they're doing a good job of taking this Arsenal situation with a great sense of humour.......
