I would actually consider getting one with that bundle. But then again I don't have 500 bucks laying around, so I dunno.

Hmm, that could be a good deal. The PS3 80GB itself costs 500 bucks right? And the controller around 60 bucks? Where could we order that from, maybe i'll get it?

yeah, with Dual Shock 3, it's certainly a plus. I'm crazy when I read this article.

I believe the bundles will be in EB stores/gamestop from what I read in the US Playstation forum. As for other retailers, I'm not sure yet..

1 thing for sure, BestBuy stores have already discontinued their selling 80gb.

Why because of the bundle coming up? I saw the PS3 + Spiderman DVD sort of a bundle being sold right now.

you meant 40gb + Spiderman (the BD-movie) bundle right ?!

I'm not sure exactly why there's no 80 gb bundle anymore at bestbuy. I hope I'm wrong on this statement.

From what I've heard, there is a rumor that the 40g and 80g systems are going to go on end-of-life which means the BestBuy is not going to sell them again because the new Ps3's are coming in soon.

another rumor telling me that the Best Buy will include the new 120g and 160g systems will be coming in.

EDIT: Oops sorry, I just know 80gb PS3 are sold out pretty fast from the past months. It seems Bestbuy might put the new bundles of MGS4 on this coming June 15th-20th

I saw the 40GB spiderman bundle and the 80GB bundle as well for $500. Will there be a significant difference between old and new PS3s, do you know?

whoa, I'm out of lucky here as it is very hard to find 80GB in BestBuy here in LA. Only 40GB that are still on the Bestbuy stores that I've seen lately

I assume you use 'old' referring to 60 GB & 20 GB ? This category look better in terms compatibility status to play PSone & PS2 games because these use Emotion Engine. Too bad, they are no longer in the production.

The 'new' PS3 (40GB & 80GB) use software emulation. Special note for 40GB, you can't play PS2 games at all, only PSone games that can be played.

80GB alone can play both PSone & PS2 games in *limited* because they use Software Emulation. Many gamers including myself believe the firmware update will be able to play them all..

As for *limited*, it means check compatibility status here:

EDIT Perhaps, this will help you more from General FAQ's

EDIT 2: If u're interested in upgrading HDD, this is a safe guide how to do it:

I just got the 40GB myself, wasn't interested in backwards compatibility as I think I've outgrown PS2 games. Whenever I play them now they seem kinda dated.. I knew I'd eventually add an external HDD anyways, so 40GB was enough storage for me at this time.

I'm quite the opposite though. I still find them nostalgic whenever I play the classic PSone games. :O

Just picked up a PS3 today along with FIFA 08. Man, what a ****ty game compared to 07. The players are so stiff and slow on the first touch it's annoying. Or maybe I just suck.

Does anyone want to be my PSN friend? (H) My username is HydrogenFluoride.

Aww man, I could have told ya FIFA 08 was crap. I downloaded the demo and deleted it about 10 mins later. EA removing the option of using the D-Pad ruined it for me. I've been playing footy games using the D-Pad for like 12 years now, using the analog stick just feels so wrong.

There are some good demos out there right now though.. Resistance is great if you like shooters, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune is pretty amazing (the gfx are crazy in HD), Virtua Tennis is fun when playing with another person, Folklore, Heavenly Sword, and a few others I can't remember right now.

PES 2008 comes out in a couple weeks here too. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they sorted out all the issues the Euro version was having. I've read on some forums that the Japanese release from last December is already better than the European, and there's been a couple patches since, so here's hoping it's alright.

Personally, I'd recommend renting Heavenly Sword, as although it's a really atmospheric game, it's extremely short and has little replayability value (my copy has gathering dust since I finished it). Resistance is a still one of the best games on the PS3 even though it was a launch title, however, it does show it's age slightly when compared to COD4 in terms of graphics. Other games I'd recommend are Ratchet & Clank:Tools of Destruction, UT3, COD4 and GT5:Prologue, which is out at the end of the month in Europe and NA.

It still sucks, unfortunately. The patches have improved the slowdown in games (although it's still pretty bad on certain stadiums like the Bernabeu) and the replays are now watchable but the graphics have been turned down to achieve this, so much so that it looks like a HD PS2 game. Online, which was completely unplayable before due to lag, has improved but occasionaly you still get the ball teleporting across the pitch.

ah that sucks :( The lack of a really good footy game was one of the main reasons that I kept putting off buy a PS3. Luckily I've been impressed with some of the other games and I'm getting back into shooters (can't wait to try Haze), but looks like I'll have to wait until PES 2009. I'm expecting Euro 2008 to be the same crap as FIFA 08..

Just blew some more money on The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion today. Heard it was an amazing game and have yet to try it so, there goes the money.

I hope I will still have enough money for tuition by May. Oh well, live the present.

PS: :shinji: if you get FIFA 08 then we can play online together like best friends. I'll even lose the first two matches to you like match-fixing just to boost your confidence so you wouldn't hate on the game right away (like I did), even though you said you already hate on it.

I'm gonna buy a PS3 in a few months (not in a rush yet!), most of my pals have 360's and tried to persuade me to buy one but the RRoD problem combined with the Blu-Ray playback functionality means I'll be sticking with Sony. :)

The RRoD was my main turn off, I didn't wanna deal with the potential (and most likely) hassle of it all..

Hopeunited, Oblivion is like the highest rated PS3 game on some sites, apparently the world you can walk around in is just huge. I'll probably end up grabbing a copy too sooner or later.
