Regens in FM2008

Anyone else finding that the regens suck in FM2008? I'm in 2015 and every player seems to have terrible stats.

I've scouted all the traditional powerhouses (Brazil, Argentina etc.) but my scouts are turning up with maybe 2-3 reports at most and I've even resorted to searching all the major clubs manually, to no avail

BTW I'm on large database with 8 leagues selected.

aye. ~there as well . Apart from 5-6 exceptions, I can't seem to find anything exceptional. Just many good players, but no leaders. Hope SI fixes that soon. (or at least in 09,....)

If they're true 'regens' then it isn't something SG can fix really. The idea of a regen is that it's an old player, remade, with a different name, and starting out as a youth player again.

Hence 'regen' = regenerated...So if there aren't any coming in, it means there isn't any retiring...or you just can't find them...

The only thing it MAY be (which would be SGs fault), is I'm sure not all players are regenerated, and I think some may be created from new...Though I'm not sure that this happens, because the whole point of Regens is to keep the balance..

That concept of regens have been scrapped (old player remade), every new player is newly generated.

yes, and it's a known issue (not sure it is acknowledged by SI, but users have proved this) that there are no more wonderkids after a bit of time has passed, all players will take a lot of time to develop.

well I'm in 2016 and there are some really amazing kids out there, Vazza...i'd say try to look yourself in like the u-23 teams from brazil, argentina and stuff...i think you'll find a couple of players that are top team material that sometimes your scouts just can't seem to discover..

Yeah, sorry that's what I meant by regens...bad use of the word, I know.

What I'm finding is that new players have amazing technical stats but poor physical stats or vice versa. Also, like Kibe said, there don't appear to be any wonderkids in the game after a few seasons.

Fili, thing is I am the Brazil manager (and Southend manager ) and the national pool is pretty poor apart from the handful of big name stars left in the game. I've searched virtually all the youth teams (u19, 21, 23) but there are no stand out players, such as the wonderkids at the start of the game.

Oh man the good old days back with CM 03/04 when we tried to explain that a regen wasn't a copy from an old player but a just completly new generated player. Haha we used to have all the links in our sigs.

Anyway, I can't really say anything about the quality of regens because I haven't got that far yet. But the regen I did get don't seem that good I must admit.

then I really don't know Vazza, because I'm managing Brazil myself and I there are three or four players who can really make it as world-class in the u19 and u23 teams..

Interesting. Helps thinking it might get just slightly better with 8.0.2 but still..

nearly all of these players are regens i would say they are great from what i have seen

i think you will find that Scotland produces some of the best regens in every fm game

In that case, I disagree with 'regen' being used..It's used for the really old versions (I think CM3 engine games), used regenerated players (and I remember trying to explain to people that names were irrelevant, people would see the surname of a famous player and assume it was going to be their regen DER!) Maybe these players should just be called gens? Generated players..

They're called newgens over at the official SI forums, so I guess that's the proper name for them now.
