Let's remember who is and has been JÜRGEN KLINSMANN:

I'm really in support of these guys working as assistant managers before places like the national team hire them.

hopefully he'll be at Bayern maybe not as an assistant but at least to observe Hitzfeld and be allowed interaction with the players, that'd really help a beginnerish manager.

Transfer coup

Germany star Tim Borowski agrees Bayern switch

14.01.2008

After sensationally attracting Jürgen Klinsmann to succeed Ottmar Hitzfeld as head coach at the end of this season, Bayern have now pulled off a coup in the transfer market with the signing of Germany international Tim Borowski from Werder Bremen. The midfielder has agreed a three-year deal with Munich and will join the club on a free transfer from 1 July 2008.

“We’ve reached agreement with Tim Borowski’s management,” FCB general manager Uli Hoeneß confirmed on Monday. Speaking from the club’s Marbella training base, Hoeneß said the parties had struck a verbal deal for the time being. “The contracts will be drawn up and signed over the next few weeks.“ Bayern had been monitoring the 27-year-old midfielder for some time, Hoeneß revealed. “The chance to sign him on a free transfer certainly appealed to us. That’s not something that happens every day with internationals.“

meh. He's been injured 50% of the time since the WC and pretty much sucked when he played. Basically another Schweinsteiger.

Youth Team
nope, basically another player who CAN be great if he stays fit cos having a central midfielder (Ballack/van Bommel but not as good) would be great.

Borowski! Nice signing, but only because I like his football. But do we need another central mid, really?

With van Bommel, Ze, Kroos, Ottl, Schlaudraff?

Of cause we do I hear you say! We are becoming the next Chelsea! LOL

I like your thinking though Paolo, Sneijder would be a SENSATIONAL coup

Ballack's comeback is a dream, but dreams could come reality sometimes.......;)
Borowski is fragile but a great player, he's a central midfielder, but me too I think we need another one, and Sneijder.......another dream Schweini....;):D

I hope we'll change our taktik Schema (Hendrik can u translate? I don't know the english way to say that), this year we are sucking with the 4-4-2 system, next year with Klinsi things could change, he has played the world cup 2006 with a 4-1-3-2 system taht I report here:
LEHMANN
FRIEDRICH-METZELDER-MERTESACKER-LAHM
FRINGS
SCHNEIDER-BALLACK-SCHWEINI
KLOSE-POLDI

For FC BAYERN we could try this one:
RENSING
SAGNOL-LUCIO-MICHO-JANSEN
VAN BOMMEL
HAMIT(SOSA, SCHWEINI)-RIBERY-BOROWSKI(SCHLAUDRAFF, ZE)
TONI-KLOSE

So Ribery could stay closer to the strikers.;)

It's called 'formation'.

And yes, I think we do need another midfielder since we only have one creative one so far (Ribery). We need to stop relying on one player all the time so this is not a bad signing at all if he can manage to stay fit.

Bayern turned down an €18M bid from Man City for Podolski.

Dammit, that was our chance. I bet we'll end up selling him to Stuttgart/Schalke for 1/3 of that money in a year.

:gavin:
How can you turn down an offer like that. Not only helps you financially to get another star but also helps Poldi playing in the EPL.

Probably only turned it down because you don't want to lose players in January. If it had been a summer bid, they'd have accepted I'm sure.

I don't see how that is relevant considering we do have many atractive atacking options in case any of the big two go down.

I think it has to do with the player itself. I don't think Poldi wants to get out of Germany.
