Talent wise Barca is better, especially upfront. As a team though Madrid is much much more compact and hungry. They play with a joy unparalleled to any team i've seen so far in any league this season. Last season you could sense the same spirit @ Getafe. I think Shuster is a great motivator. Right man for the right job at the right time.

I do excpect Barca to get hot though, and Real might go into a slump. The season is much longer that this.

Absolutely right Deisler, you are right but that is the historical truth of Barca and Madrid. They are the better players man for man, we are always the better team, and teams win championships....in 04 Barca was a team, now they are a bunch of individuals, and it shows, Messi wasnt there and it hurt them...I dont think it really matters who plays for us, when we go out and play like we did today or how we played in San Mames a couple weeks back you have to sit back and say wow....now that;s a team. That is what Made La quinta del Buitre amazing, that is what won us the last two CL's .....TEAMWORK!, and we got it again this year....Capello brought it back Schuster has cultivated it...we are a football family and I love it...Thought we might not be favorites to win the CL this year I wouldnt bet against us!

HALA MADRID!!

What Can I say?! I waited too long to post. I am soo freakin happy! FANTASTIC! I LOVE BAPTISTA!! And damn, 30 mil?! The deal of the century! Legendary performance by Pepe. Where was Eto'o and actually the whole Barca team against this guy?! Iniesta was class though, I have to admit. Only good player. For the rest, Barca was outsmarted. The defense looked like a rock! I must say it again, Pepe is a LEGEND! Cannavaro was again superb! Heinze was defensively fantastic. Ramos put Ronaldinho in deeper crisis. Outstanding performance from Sergio again. Midfield won it for us. Diarra-Baptista is a joy to watch. They work very hard! The one is 100% perfect off the ball and the other comes close to perfection when he touches the ball. Sneijder was good today, nothing wrong with his performance again, worked hard and had some great passes! Our new Beckham ;) Robinho was a bit quiet because he didnt get the ball much (I think Marcelo suits him better than Heinze) but when he did get the ball he was a devil for the Barca defense! Raul-Ruud worked their asses off again! Raul even showed glimpses of Robinho style play ;) Great backheels!!

In short, DON SCHUSTER has done it. Great birthday present for the guy!
Ow, and MoM ---> REAL MADRID! (Although Pepe stood out a bit ;))

HALA MADRID!!

Another great part of the game was Cannavaro tearing Dinho a new one after a blatant dive from him in the box, that was great to see.

I'm not too sure about that statement. Upfront we have Ruud, Raul (2 of the top leaders in goals in the CL, compare their resumes to Etoos, Messis, etc! Then there's Robinho who is just getting started, etc. I beg to differ. I'm not saying we are much better or even better than Barca but definately not behind. Better players make better teams. at the moment we have the best goalie, best RB in Ramos (imo) in the world, Cannavaro, Raul the legend, Ruud and all the solid players like Baptista, Sneijder, Robben...

Paul, lets not be so modest. We've always had great great players....Zidane, Raul, Ronaldo, Figo, Redondo, Hierro, the list goes on.....now we have great players who play well together. Don't give me that that Barca always have better individual players! I can take us all back to Juanito, Amancio, DiStefano, Hugo Sanchez, Sanchis, Pirri and on and on....

Ahh, what a great night. I watched the game in a bar with 10 friends, 8 for Barca, me and a friend for Real. Me and my buddy didn't talk back much before the game, or even during it, but the other guys were constantly making fun of Real etc. The look on their faces when we hit home for 0-1, and the silence from their side after that, that made it all so ******* worth it, god damn it felt great :D.

Orgullo I am not saying that we dont have or have had great players you know, but the fact of the matter is that Barca have had great stars almost constantly in their rosters while there have been times (as in the the present) we were have pursued excellence over a name. Barca went after names this offseason, while we pursued excellence, effectiveness, coachability....and look at the results, we really really owned them outhere, I was almost shocked, cause the resul COULD have been a scandalous 3-0 we didnt score more cause we didnt need to/want to....

En fin, I am excited for our team, but as we say in Spanish todavia queda mucha tela por cortar, so let's reign in our excitement celebrate for the next few days and get back to work as we have done all season, I love this TEAM we got, a true TEAM!, I loved how thru the whole game Guti even thought he didnt play was cheering the team on and getting behind the boys, outstanding!....

Congratulations on the win, you played better and deserved it. We just couldn't make chances and when we did get past Pepe there he was, Iker... He saved your asses a couple of times, arguably the world's greatest right now.

I'm still not agreeing on everything with you, first of all, I don't know how it should've been 0-3, I don't think you had 3 shots on goal, and yea Ronnie did dive, but not in every situation, so did Robinho in the box.

There were some situations when the whole crowd was shouting at Gonzalez, but I can't say much about those situations as I didn't see the slowmotions, so it's hard to tell if there was a foul or not. One I did see was the corner, which was a clear hand ball by Ramos (I think), but not easy for the ref to see it, so what can you do.

All and all, I'm dissapointed from our lad's performance, we really needed Messi there, Ronnie had a lot of situations where he would've made a goalscoring opportunity a couple of years ago, but he's not the player he used to be, he just couldn't get past anyone, just a couple of times. I'm not saying we would've won, or even got a point if we had Messi, just that we needed him, but it's not your fault he's injured.

As I said, congratulations, good match. We'll see in Bernabeu, hopefulloy we can make a difference.

GOODBYE MADRID!

Waaaah Waaaaah waaaaaah....you done crying yet? its ok. :clapwap:

Actually Jaboldihno two clear chances. One, where RVN sent the ball wide of the post, he had Raul wide open in the far post too but he took the shot and it trickled out, normally rudd burries those....Secondly, the chance where Robihno slipped thru both your defense and keeper and ran out of angle, he was fouled but Mejuto didnt call the penalty and I understand why, so its ok, but he also could have played the ball in as he normally does and Baptista was coming in by himself on the back post....so yes, 0-3 should have been somewhat more representative of the tactical domination we enjoyed, we missed chances which as proven by our recent effectiveness we usually burry....that's what I meant about the score....but yes, we will see you in the Bernabeu!

Congratulations.

You're clearly the better team now. Completely deserved win. You don't have a stellar squad like you used to, but you have everything else.

La Liga is 90% yours.

You are right Paul, the more I see us play the more I love the signings. We had a clear cut plan and got players who are not only great individually but who can fit together like a puzzle. I don't see any premadonnas on our side. I had a good feeling about Schuster and it hasn't let me down. I think he is the perfect man for this project...he especially showed it with his handling of Robinho's "scandal". On the same note, Baptista is super class. Not only his play but his attitude. He decided to stick around with us and he sat for a while, never complaining or stirring up the locker room. The most he said was that he may leave in order to play, etc. which is normal. And now he's been given the opportunity and has run away with it. I hope he remains with us. He represents the shirt extremely well and is a player to look up to. Hala!

:S Easy, Ruud shot in the first half went wide by inches, and the couple of breakaways in the 2nd half that Robinho held up, etc. just to mention a few. I think playing the way we did, Messi would have been suffocated just like everyone else was. Iniesta was the only decent player. He's a great player, the best alongside Messi for you guys. Also, I'd like to add that Casillas made a big difference. If he wouldn't have stopped those 2 shots back to back it might have been a different game but that's how it goes. I think he's the best goalie in the world. He keeps proving it week in week out. As for Ronaldinho, I think his days are numbered at Barca. If I were Laporta and Co. I would sell him quick before his stock goes down even further. It's clear that he's passed it now. The future for you guys is Iniesta, Messi, and the 2 kids.

Hey mate, first, thanks for your class. Second, the league is nowhere ours yet, nowhere. If we think like that we'll lose it. Barca are still very dangerous and there's still the match at the Bernabeu so....the only thing I disagree with is that I think we do have a stellar squad, but it's still a work in progress.

1. I don't see how you can lose the league with Sevilla being so far behind and us being so miserable. Plus, your team is very efficient and mature.

2. Your squad isn't as stellar AS IT USED TO BE. You don't have Zidanes or Ronaldos anymore, but you have a strong defense, efficient attack, good midfield, the correct attitude... the ingredients for success.

Mathematically, you're nowhere near the title. But practically speaking, not only do you have an advantage + a home clasico, you also showed that you're better than the rest, including us.
I said this last night and I stil think so - if we were 10 pts in front of Madrid, we'd still lose the league because you just can't play like this and expect something.

The only way for us to challenge is to fire Rijkaard, sell Dinho and Deco, and for the new coach to miraculously introduce a super tactic that the players will get down with no problem.

But, hope dies last.

I don't know...I mean, remember us last year how we caught up? As much as I talk smack about Barca and "hate" you guys, I respect you (yes it's weird). I think you are spot on about Ronnie, Rijkaard, Deco. I also think you have some nice future with Messi, Iniesta, Giovanni, Bodjan. The key ingredients are there. This game might have been the key turning point and wake up call to start thinking operation "get rid of Ronnie, Rijkaard, etc.." With all the beef with Ronnie, Rijkaard and the press feeding off this, it may very well be a lost year...it seems that way...but still 7 points is nothing at this stage and even a weak barca is a good barca so we need to stay on our toes. I think Ronnies problem is a combination of a few things. #1, His success getting to his head (seems very comfortable and too relaxed, as if he doesn't need to work anymore since he's won everything, is a big shot, etc, #2, losing a step due to his lack of hard work, age, and lack of motivation. It's a combination of these things + the fact that he's been benching and his ego is taking abig hit that makes me know that he will be gone soon. His stock has gone down tremendously. I don't see how Barca will get the money they ask but I guess a team like Chelsea may not care about this. I see him there and failing to dominate in England. a bit too late to adapt to the English style, change of culture, language, climate, etc...

then dont read it Arnau....

Orgullo you are spot on brother; see the fact remains that I too would like to bash this GREAT victory in the face of Barca and its fans but the truth remains that we have won NOTHING yet. There is still so much to be decided so many games to play, plus, remember our next three la Liga games are tough....@Zaragoza; @ Atletico and Home to Villareal.....Tough cookies all of them with Zaragoza maybe being the easier one....However, over the last two away games, we have demonstrated an attitude on defense, a drive and determination and a lethal efficiency that is plain scarry. And playing in that manner you cannot bet against us; but again, there is much to be decided....

As far as Ronnie, it is a shame you know. I like the guy I do, but as you pointed out seems like fame has gone to his head. Another of the Barca fans pointed out that Rijkaard was never a good tactician and i believe it; he never was and it is showing now. Deco is just a cancer.....Barca will be fine in the future they got the foundations of a team to dominate Europe and Spain, but it is going to take a revolution there and like you said this might be a lost year already....

Let's keep doing our talking on the field, let's allow that Spirit to continue to shine forth, which is now accompained by what I believe is the best counter attacking scheme in the world at this point in time.....HALA MADRID!!

If we are to speak of missed chances to say it should have been 3-0, then maybe 3-2, because Ronnie missed one that he would have put away normally, and Barca had several chances at the end that could have gone in.

The bottom line is, it was 1-0 and deserved. My point is, you can talk all night about should have been this or that score, and there are good points on both sides, but it was 1-0 and a tighter game than perhaps it should have been. The fact that Madrid at their best could only beat us at our worst 1-0 is comforting, but it still rings hollow. Losing at home is not acceptable.

Too bad Silvio isn't offering 100 million for Ronnie anymore.

Our team needs a shakeup, a breath of fresh air. A change.
