Sir Bobby Robson - BBC Sports Personality Lifetime Achievement Award

Don't know how many others saw it, but he looked so old and frail. The ceremony was very moving indeed, brought a tear to my eye. I've had the privelege of speaking to him on a couple of occassions and he is an absolute gentleman. It will be a very sad day when football has to mourn his passing, which I regret to say doesn't look too far away now.

That Nice Guy
Totally agree, my mate once met him in the staff toilets at WHSmith when he was doing a book signing, apparently the guy's a legend.

And as Den said, really very friendly.

My Dad met him, he said he was really nice as well, even made him a cup of tea.
But yes, there's probably nobody around who has deserved this award than Bobby Robson. Legend.

I'll always remember him for when he told that story about Gazza training for England with a carpet brush stuck in his sock. Bobby had said he was "daft as a brush" which for Gazza was a cue for some silliness.

A true legend - long live Sir Bobby

The only man in recent years who managed to actually perform with Newcastle United. It all went downwards with them since he was sacked.

Legend.

Legend is right. I'm not suprised he looked frail, I think he's already had cancer three times before. He even got it at PSV, came back the same season and won the league!
Has to be one of the very best managers England have ever produced. And to think he was succeeded by Graham Taylor!
