I really hope you copied and pasted that from somewhere. But aye, looks like a good laugh.

My basketball coach when I was 10 was yugoslavian, and had allegedly played in the national team. He got fired for giving us presents, though. Although that might be what the parents said to cover another thing.

I thought Israel had won one, though. Unpleasantly surprised.

That's my post. If this is not interesting to you then why be an ignorant idiot and post the above. I don't like darts but does it mean I should post in darts thread and say that darts is ****? I really don't understand people like you. It's like "I don't like it and have no clue about it then it's ****".

I am sorry for misunderstanding then. The post is that large because I know that many people here are not familiar with this championship so I wanted to give all the main information in one post. I still don't understand why "it will be a good laugh".

i don't mean that in terms of 'comedy', i mean, it'll be enjoyable "a good laugh".

Jesus Christ.

Most people are ignorant about basketball in general. Even if they do know anything its just a few things about the NBA. Mostly player names. Even US americans know absolutely nothing about bball outside their league.
Only fans from certain European countries where basketball is fairly developed know more than that (like spain, italy, Lituania (;) its your national sport there afterall) to just name a few).
Dont expect much response here. Your 2006 world championship thread was active only because some where just interested in the US NT.

The fact that basketball and interest in it, currently, is so focused on the NBA just only, is the main reason why it will never reach Football.
Now, thats all the crap I have to add. Have a nice day everyone!

That's true and I know that. I never aimed to make this thread popular. I posted to see if there anyone interested in it. If I get 0 replies fair enough I have no problem with it. But if there are relies they should be on topic. What happened here was a misunderstanding and I appologised. But I think that Tom's post could have provoked this. Anyway that's past.

As for Americans knowing little about basketball outside US, I could say that most of them know little about the world outside US in general (no offense, that's a fact). There are many reasons why basketball is not so popular but that's another topic.

Since this micro-conflict was sorted let's get back on topic.

Our team has no chances to qualify :( I'm almost 100% sure they'll finish after both Serbia and Greece. Taking into account Russia's current position it's amazing how the team managed to get medals in 1993 and 1997 and how much things went wrong since then :(
