Should a 0-0 tie be given 0 points?

Stupid idea. Picture this: In leagues all over the world, every time a match starts, both teams let each other score once so that they both ensure they don't finish the game without points. Then, with the score at 1-1, the game really begins...

This post seemed to indicate you would get points on a per goal basis.

But 0-0 matches are DEFINITELY boring. You watched 90 minutes of NOTHING. A single goal can change a match in so many ways. I hate 0-0 matches so i would like to see if those matches would bring 0 points to both teams. if you don't score you can't expect to get a point. if israel playws 0-0 against italy, italy won't get a point, too, so israel didn't do it for nothing.

exactly:clapwap: And for instance if a team thats going to get relagated needs a draw to stay up they would have to score a goal first and not just defend with 11 players. So whichever way you look at it it will lead to attacking football. I dont see how this idea is such a bad idea either because if you go take a test no matter how hard you study if you didnt get any right why do you deserve a point instead of a zero. Thats life.

I'd hardly say that a team in a 0-0 draw didn't get anything right. They didn't concede any, so they got everything right in defence.

Sure, there are 0-0 matches that are boring. Some aren't. There are heroic performances from keepers, off the line clearances, balls that hit the bar, missed one on ones, wrong offside calls and all that. If you aren't entertained by a football match with all it offers (the chance of a 10-10 goalfest or a 0-0) then maybe you should just play FIFA.

I know they are some entertaining 0 to 0 games and everything you mentioned above is entertaining but the point is they didnt score so they dont deserve any points. But im done discussing this lol:)

Perhaps you like Basketball more? They score all the time, actually, they score that much, that scoring isnt anything special anymore...
