i dont see ehy anyone would want to go to chelsea...no mater how good they are they will spend alot of time on the bench

So....Chelsea are the only team with subs and fringe players then? Every team has players who spend a lot of time on the bench, including Man U.

Players will continue to come to Chelsea only if they have the desire to push themselves to their peak. If at that time they are good enough, they will break into the starting 11. If they are not, then they will not. The same should and does apply at every club. If a player aint up to the challenge of competing for a first team place then he is no good to Chelsea because that shows a lack of motivation and ambition.

Maybe some players think that they are so good that they deserve an immediate first team spot. Maybe they will join another club over Chelsea because life will be easier for them that way. That player soon becomes complacent and lazy and gradually his usefulness to the team will diminish.

We don't want or need players like that. There is no place for big ego's at Chelsea. Apart from his wages, Sheva gets treated the same as Jimmy Smith or Michael Woods. Some players can't handle that and they uually do not stay long. Thats a good thing for us and Chelsea are only too happy to let those players move on.

You have got to understand thats it a different mentality now. At Chelsea its not all about the starting 11. Its all about the squad as a whole. Chelsea are encouraging a team ethic from the apprentices all the way through to the big boys. Its not easy to find players who will consider the big picture rather than just think of themselves. Chelsea have managed to aquire players who will fit in. They will fit in because they want to fit in and not because they are being paid to fit in.

With the amount of games played now in the League and all the cup competitions, a club cannot survive with a starting 11 and three subs all the way through the season. A Club needs a nucleus of talent to call on to see it theough a very hard season. So, if a club can build TWO teams, both as good as each other, then that would be ideal wouldn't it?

A teams subs and reserves should not be less talented than regular first team players. They should all be just as amazing as each other. That is what a real squad is made of.

Jose himself has said many times that he knows every week, only maybe 3 or 4 names that go on his team list without question. The rest of the players have no guarrantees at any time that they will even make the team from one week to the next. Its their desire, commitment and contribution to the team that will earn a place in the side. If some players are not prepared to give 110percent, on and OFF the pitch, then they do not deserve a place in the team.

Well thats us through to the next round. 4-0 nice result. Nice to see Arshole and ManUre struggling, both getting replays they didn't want. Good to see SWP and Sheva on the scoresheet for us too. Lets hope we get another result in the draw on Monday.

Porto on Wednesday and Arsehole on Sunday. Looking forward to both those games.

New pitch laying began today after the game. We had that pitch layed just before Christmas and it already looks and plays like crap. With the Thames running under the stadium and the high water table throughout the area, We need to spend some serious cash dealing with the drainage problem. Every pitch Chelsea lay doesn't last five minutes with all that water under it. Sort it out Roman.:mexican:

Second is NOTHING. Arsenal might be happy to settle for that but WE are gonna win it for the third time. Man U are beggining to fade already.

Don't argue about it. Come back at seasons end and tell me if I was right or wrong. You will find that I was right.

You gotta admit though pede, we have been waiting for this since, say mid-December? And i don't know what you see, but i really don't see any signs of United collapsing like a sack of potatoes.

Great game Drogba, SWP, Essien and Sheva. Dirra is setteling in very well so is Mikel. Shevchanko has showed that he is getting used to the English game week by week. (Y) I hope for another good draw for the next round. Looking forward to Porto and Sunday against Arsenal. We are looking good in the title race and I wouldn’t count Chelsea out anytime soon.

Neither would I, you'd be a fool to do that, but I wouldn't be writing Man Utd off so soon.

Oh, just forget about them. Chelsea fans just can't believe that they have been top only for one week in the last 7 month, so they still think that everything is up to them. If they will manage to win the next 11 games, then maybe they do deserve the title, but winning 11 games on the trot?

Hey second is better than thrid, specially when arsenal got off to slow start, unlike chelsea, Man u who got off to flyers. "but WE are gonna win it for the third time" I will wait and see how your superstars play against our youth team come sunday.

Then get ready for a dissapointment mate. By the way, you will not be playing your youth team. You will be fielding players from the first team squad. The same as we will be. Drop this crap about "kids" you plank. It fools nobody.

I know Ballack hasn't been playing very well at Chelsea, but I've noticed that Chelsea never include him in plays....its always Essien to Lmapard or any other player to Lampard, they never pass the ball to Ballack. Its alsmost like he isn't even a part of the team. You cant really put all the blame on him. Next Chelsea match, i hope you guys try and notice it too. :jambo:

The reason for that is this. He does not find any spaces to recieve a pass. He wanders around the pitch looking disinterested and without enthusiasm. Its what he does for the team when he DOES have the ball that worries me. His passing is poor, his shooting is poor and if he goes in to a tackle, he invariably clumsily fouls his opponent and gives away free kicks.

Of course he is entitled to need some time to settle in to a new team and a new league so its understandable that he isn't performing at his best. We all know that he is a superb player so hopefully he will soon find his feet at Chelsea and show us all what he can do.

Sheva has had the same problems but he is now starting to show us the Sheva we all know. It takes time, we know that, so I'm sure Ballack will turn out OK.

Yea i guess your right about it taking a while for him to get used to it. At times he seems nervous, but then i see him making some touches to the plays that people don't really notice but are really helping the flow of the match.

The points Pete listed have been his main weaknesses for years. It's not an issue of just getting used to it or settling in. I didn't understand (aside from the cash) why he moved to England in the first place. Of course these fast-paced matches will expose his weaknesses. The guy's 30, he's not gonna become a different player.
