The Official Arsenal Thread [Season 2006/07]

The Legend
Almunia - Good. Saved us in extra time, not much he could have done about their goal given the infraction by Jaaskalinen on Kolo.

Djourou - Wasen't phased by Bolton at all
Clichy - Amazing. Everything you would want out of a left back.
Kolo - That run (H). He did well but needs a rest when Big Phil or Gallas are fit.
Gilberto - Captain's match. Didn't look out of position.

(Hoyte - Did well. I really like Justin.)

Denilson - He's going to be some player. Great game.
Diaby - Looked in good shape.
Hleb - This season he looks like he's adjusted to the pace of the English league. Hope he isn't hurt too badly.
Rosicky - Great

(Aliadiere - Looks reinvented as a wide player, looked really dangerous at times and assisted Freddie's goal)
(Ljungberg - He scored.)

Beast - Did well other than the obvious head in hands moments.
Adebayor - What a legend. Yea, he had a bad miss but he really worked his ass off. He tracked back and won a goal kick really deep in extra time. Got his 2 goals.

Senior Squad
Fantastic, what a morale booster for the team (except Baptista). Bout time. Could've been about 7-3. Should've been 6-1.

It alright if you can give it, but can you take it.

btw Bolton really missed Faye, Hunt and Davies, but that's no excuse for loosing to Arsenal second team who failed to take so many chances. Great game for Arsenal, Bolton can be such a pain in the ass for Arsenal. :boohoo:

Looking forward to the League cup final.

Hi,

Can anyone help me? I'm an expat pom in Perth and an Arsenal fan. Are any Australian TV companies showing the FA Cup? In particular, I'm keen to see today's Arsenal v Blackburn game. Neither Fox Tel, Setanta or SBS seem to be showing it.

I'm not convinced that Arsenal are the team they were. They've lost Campbell, Cole, Viera, Bergkamp and Pires recently and Ljunberg is on the way out. Fabregas has turned out to be a great find but I'm not sure the likes of Baptista, Hleb and Rosicky measure up in comparison.

Diaby got injured at a bad time. He and Denilson might turn out to be great players. The jury's still out on Walcott (still young) and Abedayor. Nice suit though.

Foxtel or Optus ESPN show some FA Cup games. or just get a Satellite Dish they cost only about $500 at most, that’s if you like watching football in another language.

They will be though.Plus A.Cole swap with Gallas i think was great. Campbell was lost anyway, Toure stepping up.Helb was looking good before the injury, Rosicky looking good.Baptista and Walcott got away to go let. Abedayor he's looking great.

Youth Team
Wow what a terrible loss. Where were Gilberto, Henry, and Adebayor? And Gallas was the worst selection for right back, I'd pick a slightly injured Eboue any day over him at right back.
I've noticed that in games we loose we usually start off playing pretty well. We pass the ball cleverly and create a couple of half chances. Then by the 20th or 25th minute we slow down a lot. We look at the cloak and think we have plenty of time, but while we slow down the other team usually snatches a goal. Then depending on how the other team defends we'll come back to win or tie, but if we run into a good back line like PSV we loose. To stop these kind of outcomes Arsenal needs to SCORE EARLY and if we don't score early and need to slow down, then we can't forget about DEFENSE.
To overturn the result today Arsenal need to come out 100%, set the tone of the game, and get an early goal.
Is anybody else seeing this pattern with Arsenal in how they play?

yes i see this as well, The chance we have and the saves from these random Gk, then to see a 30 yard stunning drill in to bottom corner or top, is unbelievable, its happened about 5 or 6 times this season.

Haha, Gomes a random GK? He's one of the best goalkeepers in the world atm. Right behind great goalies like Buffon and Cech. He's about the same level as Van der Sar, Casillas etc IMO
