Yesterday I went to EB Games and they had a demo PS3 with that Motocross game. Some kids were playing that game and all of the sudden the PS3 froze (H)

I saw the same thing happen as well.

overheating problem ? hardware glitches ?

I'm still holding to purchase a PS3 this year despite I see the worse kind of this happening.

Games like Blazing Angels is a blast !

My 360 was manufactured on May 2006 so I guess I lucked out on the bad launch batches. I keep mine vertical and well ventilated. I play for 5-7 hours at a time and never felt it get really hot. So far so good. Don't stuff it into an entertainment center. I hear R6 Vegas is amazing. Must try that soon. Did you get a package deal with a free game? It's the way to go as far as consoles go now!

I got one of these stands for my Xbox coz I was always scared of it tipping over... it has a built in fan which I don't think does a whole lot, but nevertheless I've never had it get really hot (never played it for more than 4 hours at a time though)... the stand also has green LEDs that look cool as **** (H)

as soon as they let personal designs I'm gonna design a sweet ass faceplate for myself too, and make my xbox the coolest piece in my room

You can design your own faceplate but with a decal. Made out of vynal, it's pretty high quality and comes off easily too. I got one from decalgirl.com. You can also ask for them to send you a template which you can design your own artwork and send to them for printing. They also have faceplates, cases and stuff. Look around, it's cool.

Me too, I'm still shopping around though. Not really happy with all the holiday bundles being sold right now around here... if I could find a bundle that came with Gears of War and 12 months of Live Gold, I'd snatch it up instantly.

btw, have you guys seen this chrome faceplate you can get? looks pretty sweet IMO.. I've seen that you can get chrome housings for your 360 controllers too..

Haha, decalgirl.com

God I want a 360 :(

Sony is retarded with their pricing, I think this is the generation where Microsoft takes away the majority of the market share in the console world. I've been a PS person since it came out, but I have no desire to get a PS3.

ya that's exactly how I feel... but my wanting a PS3 will probably grow fifty-fold when MGS4 comes out :(

I'm starting to feel the same as you guys but as of right now I'm not rushing to get any of these systems. I'll give it another year and see what happens. There's still good games to get out there for the PS2 like Okami, Bully and the always awesome Greatest Hits titles.

i don't know, japan is such a strong market and it seems there are already more ps3 than xbox 360 in japanese homes.

PS2 is still strong. PS3 doesn't make any sense to me now. I've been a PS person for along time now but my loyalties don't belong to anyone. I get what makes most sense. RIght now, the 360 is exactly what I want: Unbeatable online play, services, great graphics, lots of quality shooters and good exclusives. I have the feeling 360 will satisfy me for 4 more years, then I may get the PS3 for $300 or so...or maybe get the next xbox! Who knows?

im thinking of getting oblivion, i would have purchased winning eleven but apparently its discontinued here in north america but the new one will be coming out in march

is the winning eleven thats coming in march the same game as the pes6 currently out in europe? I get confused with those sometimes...

WE:PES 2007 should be released in North America on February 6th this year. (H)

I think it should be the same one as PES6 as in PS2 version; which I will purchase this one.

A special case for Xbox 360 version, it's one different from PES6. A whole new experience gameplay.

the confusion is caused by the fact that in north america winning eleven is usually released after pes (and just a few months before the new winning eleven comes out in japan...).

I was just wondering because PES6 (even on XBox 360) has been getting dissapointing reviews in Europe, I was hoping the North American version coming out had something more to look forward to..

I know games always get varying reviews, but the fact that there are so many die-hard PES fans saying that it's the worst PES/WE ever and even FIFA is better this year, kinda makes me wonder..

PS3 is going to get really hot once they low down the prices a bit more and Square/Konami/Capcom start splashing out their badass franchises.

EDIT - No Shinji, FIFA07 is not better than PES6. However, you'll be better off playing PES5 on your comp or PS2. PES6 is very dissapointing.

With the 2006 holiday season firmly behind us, all "next-gen" consoles are out of the gate and running. Sony has announced that the company has shipped 1 million PlayStation 3 consoles and says that they are on track for their European launch in March. Now that the mad holiday rush is over, however, Sony's challenges are just now mounting.

Without a doubt, the PS3 launch was something to behold: news stories of insanely long lines, fatal shootings and occasional muggings made it clear that in the early days, getting a PS3 was darn near impossible. Many saw the PS3 as pure eBay gold. Reality has set in, however. Suddenly PS3 speculators can't unload their units on eBay for a profit. Gaming blogs have started joking that the PS3 excels at collecting dust on shelves. Has demand really died down that quickly? We decided to find out by checking stores in the Cincinnati and Boston metropolitan regions.

The results are unambiguous: the PlayStation 3 is in stock, almost everywhere. In Cincinnati, there were PS3s at multiple Wal-Marts, GameStops, and Circuit City stores. The numbers went from only one system at the first Wal-Mart store to 15 at the second; everyone else seemed to have under ten units, mixed between the 20GB and 60GB models. If you want to buy a PS3, it's simply a matter of going to the right store or ordering from Best Buy or Circuit City online, both of which have them in stock, ready to ship. The same can be said for the Xbox 360, which is also available everywhere we checked. The Wii, on the other hand, has been sold out everywhere, with vague rumors of another shipment in the next few days.

One retailer spoke to me on condition of anonymity, and broke down his version of the situation. "It's not that we've gotten more PS3s than Wiis, it's just that no one wants them. We've seen a few returned. We have four in the store right now," he said. He also told of people coming in with multiple systems and no receipts, looking for cash back after their eBay listings failed to gather attention. "If you told me that I would have PS3s to sell and that I won't be able to get enough Wiis back in October, I would have laughed at you," he went on. He also detailed a memo from a regional vice president telling managers to put up a hand-written note telling customers that the PS3 is in stock.

Without any clear numbers outside of the 1 million shipped in North America, it's hard to say if demand for the PS3 is cooling or if supply is simply catching up. Recall that it wasn't until spring was nearly here last year that Microsoft was able to meet the initial demand.

It's not the case that the PS3 isn't selling well, however. One store manager revealed that they have sold 24 of 28 launch units, and most others who would talk to us told similar tales. Sales are strong; they're simply not as strong as many expected and a few even hoped.

The rush for the PS3 is over, and now it's up to Sony to get the games and updates needed to put the PS3 back in the minds of gamers to move this inventory. This is a marathon, not a sprint, but the widespread availability has to be troubling to Sony. When the "sold out" stories quickly become "inventory stacked to the ceiling a month later" stories, shareholders may become somewhat unsettled by how strong the competition has become.

I have 360 and it is a pile of crap. I played Gears of War, FIFA07, and Fight Night 3. All three games suck, not fun, and just plain time wasters. Personally I think that 360 just does not deliver. I bet same goes to PS3 and Wii, as they dont look much different from the 360.

P.C.S. My advise is to stop wasting time and money for these ****ty consoles and do something important. Such as drawing a picture or at least making a song on your keyboard. Those video games just dont repay in fun for the time and money they require. Next generation my ass!
