Nah they couldn't, if we wanted to we'd pull a brazil, keep our money and piss on everyone. We have the farmland and technology to do it, hell, we could set China and India up too if we wanted to.

The EU has apparantly funded a huge research which suggests that in less than 3 years, breakthrough technology will be invented which would allow us to move the tectonic plates, which should change climate and other crap, most importantly, give Europe oil, whilst leaving the arabs with nothing, it's also supposed to cause the cracks which allow oil to seep through easily and quickly.

I've no idea how this all works, but hopefully it happens soon.

Dubai has plently of money and oil...oil that will drive it for the majority of our lifetimes, so I don't think that alternative techniques are going to be as big a factor in the near future as most might think...they will vertainly power everything one day, but most of us will NOT be able to truly reap the benefits.i.e. we won't be around! Alternative techniques are available everywhere but are way more expensive.

Visited the city 4 years ago (the year of the Roman one) and noticed one thing...if you have a decent education, you're working in an office environment living a decent life. If you have an advanced degree or CONTACTS, you'll be living a fancy life in LESS than a year...especially if you go there by yourself. Now, if you land there and say "Give me money", they will throw you into the SIZZLING HOT fields (ultimately humans are needed to build A, B, C, etc.) and make you work your rear end off...and may not end up paying as much.Oh yes, those fields are burning hot!

They have some real good Irish pubs there...the Dubliner to name one (well the only one I can remember from that night).
