What's up with scoring?

I've played all PES games to date, and did well in them. Scored lots of goals against the highest levels, won trophies and so forth.

But there's something wrong with PES 6. (pc)

Scoring goals has become ridiculously difficult. I create loads of scoring chances, but I can't seem to score in this game. It always looks close, so in the first few games you go "oooohhhhh" with every shot missed. The goalie "just" gets to it. The defender "just" manages to block it.

You assume you're gonna start scoring them by the dozens at some point, but it just doesn't happen. I score an average of one goal every 7-8 games.

I mean.. what the hell is up?

I agree with you. The scoring sucks big time. I press the shoot button and 9.99 times out of 10 the ball will fly over the bar. Scoring is pure random luck and nothing else.

I was quite good at PES5 and have a major problem scoring with this game.

On the other hand there's plenty of other people who must have a problem with scoring , i mean with the female kind. Must be all the homework they have to do. Oh Yeah.

You are so right about the scoring.I hit the bar a record 8 times in a 10mins game! I mean wtf? I love scoring spectacular goals,but the law of averages in pes6 seems to be tilted towards eitha hitting an innocent fan in the top row or bagdering the bar off its posts!

scoring in mainly difficult in topplayer because of the computer cheating. They take you down in the box no penalties more shots hit the woodwork than the net and GKs are amazingly advanced lol unlike 1 on 1 they are a joke.

The game is scripted to the point that it's playability is virtually gone.

If you don't like it, my advice is don't play it. I don't mean that in an unfriendly way. I'm afraid it doesn't get better with practise, the game really is that bad.

Just shelf it and wait for PES7 next year with fingers crossed that they restore some gameplay and realism to this product. Save yourself the dismay of playing it and do something more rewarding with your time...like eating nails.

I occassionally give it a spin just to see if it was actually better than I remember...but alas, a couple of minutes of play is enough to make me vomit.

I totally agree with you CaiRo.........Its takes pratice.if you watch a real game of football you will see Top players missing...easy and hard shots all the time.

alw1969......you just do not take advice or help in any way, you just blindly go on ranting about how bad the shooting is. ........NO you are wrong you need to practice and get more skilled at using the buttons.

OK yes it takes alot of practice but when you miss easy shots or miss fromm inside the box your peed off but it just makes you more determined to get it right and when you do get it right its fantastic

If you dont like it and you cant be bothered to pratice to get it right THEN DONT play the game any more..simple

I've been practicing for a quite a while. It's always the same. It seems the CPU is programmed to react to a certain situation in a certain way. The gameplay isn't random enough for it to be realistic.

It's not just about the scoring. When you have a physical fight with an opponent for the ball, in what are supposed to be 50-50 situations, the CPU manages to get the ball 90 % of the time. I hardly bother myself with these tussles anymore, because I know how they'll end up.

I'm playing the PC version. Maybe it's different on the PS2 or PS3 or whatever.

I score so rarely, that even if I was a terrible player, and I'm not, statistically speaking I should've scored more goals by now.

It just doesn't make sense.

Seriously guys, just give up on this crock of sh*t. There's no worth to be found, even if you persevere with 6 months of diligent, hopeful playing.

PES6 is just some cheap, scritped garbage they've churned out because they've long ago run out of ideas and have nothing new to offer, but want to milk some more money from it.

They're starting to make EA's FIFA07 look like a good game...that's how desparate it's got for KONami. A desparate effort from a company in decline. RIP KCET. I'll be the first to dance on your grave, assuming you don't script me to run in the opposite direction.

I like pes6. The shooting is nice. Perhaps the best ever. The bug i find is that there is too much space on particular parts of the field, like on the wings.

You guys just need more practice~~ Try a few more different playing styles, and learn how to build up play...

It could takes more than just a few months for some people to play it well. Don't blame on computer cheating, its just a better AI that can predict what you gonna do next, so change your styles! If you think thats cheating, then all online players are cheating, coz if you can't beat computer, don't even think you can win people online.

For people like Samuel, since you are so much hate about this game. Why don't just give it to your friend and try FIFA I bet you can win every single game in world class difficulty after a few nights, have fun scoring the same goals 10000000x times

I was England. Oppo was Arsenal. As i have said before the game is just not realistic.

I really loved PES5 and it did not take me months to practice how to shoot , it was very very playable. I never mastered it but i could always have a good game.

There's something not quite right about this game and that's what p*sses me off.

i was playing yesterday vs chelsea in a cup with realmadrid i won 3:0 on top player
i agree that the ai is very hard and can predict ur action but here comes the practicing
and to understand the nature of ai move
they rarely miss but with pressure they do alot of mistakes
personally i see PES6 is the best football game ever
for all who cant play it practice more of play fifa u will find it rather easier

Agreed

Get the pes5 shooting system out of your system. The sensivity if the shooting gauge is different. (as u might have noticed)

The beauty about PES is as you play along you will develop the "feel" on shots. Those long range beauties scored are done because it just feels right to shoot at that moment. If you haven't develop it yet, you're just playing the game on the surface without really wanting to understand it abit deeper.

PES aint really develop to be user-friendly as FIFA. For FIFA, anyone can just pick the game up and play. But PES, it takes abit of time for a new person to actually learn and finally enjoy the game.

Well i'm pretty sure you are not new to the series, but PES6 shooting system as you mentioned aint really bad as you described. Just because you can't score that often doesn't mean the shooting system is crap. How do you explain those people who can score long range beauties and such. It's because they actually bothered to understand and adapt to the new shooting system. And no you don't have to take months to actually adapt to it.

I'm probably having less trouble scoring than with PES5. I'm leading the master league in goals scored (though I'm only playing 4 stars). I get stone-walled occationally, but that is the way it works. Changing tactics and players seems to be very useful. Definately takes some getting used to. I had very small forwards to begin with, and it seemed to work wonders adding some hight and heading ability to mix things up.

The shooting is not realistic.

It is easier to score from outside the box than inside the small goalie box in the penalty area.

The power button is random, why is it that if i tap the shoot button outside the box i get a low powered shot, but if i tap the button inside the penalty area the power bar goes past halfway. It is almost impossible to do a low powered tap in.

By the way i still have no lost or drawn a game on top mode in master league. My average is 6-0 plus in 10 minutes, but if the shooting was realistic it would easily be 10-0 plus. Instead of improving the a.i all konami have done is cripple your players so that the cpu stands a chance e.g my players no matter what speed they have will run at the same speed as the cpu when chasing the ball.

It's true that the shooting system feels worse at first, and there's no point in having a whole power bar when you'll rarely will go more than 50% on any shot (inside and outside the box). It's also true that now it feels less defining when inside the box, but as a lot of people have already said, even the best players miss easy shots every game, and the best teams score 1 or nil goals in a lot of matches.

For me, the shooting system is a bit worse than the last year, but that doesn't make it bad. Me personally I love to score those flat, levelled and weak shots that have a huge angle and are out of reach from the keeper. On the other hand I think some players should be able to make good shots even from unbalanced positions, like Ronaldinho or those typical strikers like Luca Toni, Morientes, etc. They score a lot of goals in real life while the defenders are pulling off their shirts...

Those long range beauties dont need any practice and they are easier to hit. No one need to understand or adapt anything with them. The adapting is needed in the area but I dont think that makes the game better. I prefer to play Fifa at the moment.
