Bosh can't drain a mid range shot? Maybe you're the one who needs to watch a few more games buddy. The Trap lane cuts down on post moves for sure, but I'm not saying we need two behemoths in the middle! Brand and Bosh are guys who can drain midrange shots like nothing plus play in the post! They are insanely athletic too. Melo just isn't a power forward.

Arenas is absolutely a superstar Carlos*y, and after this season I believe he can do anything. 29 points, 6 assists, and 2 steals. Incredible. Honestly, I'd rather have him in my lineup than Wade because he can shoot; Wade's shot is very streaky and there's no way he's going to get so many crappy calls in the international game.

Look, I love Chris Paul and I'm glad he's on the team, but I don't think he should get a starting spot over Arenas. I'm willing to give him a starting spot over Wade (moving Arenas to the 2), but nothing else. Plus I believe Arenas will do whatever it takes to lead the team to victory. He's just one of those guys you see doing whatever is best for the team.

Oh, and I'm still not sure about Kobe. If he plays I think he starts at Shooting Guard no question along side James, Brand, and Howard/Bosh. Point guard is up in the air. I also love Kirk's tenacious defense and outside shot. But I think we can all agree, the person who's game suits the international game the least is probably the biggest lock to start right now: Dwyane Wade.

Yes Bosh can drain a mid-range (I knew you'd get at me with that but I was too lazy to add it in) but he can't drain a mid-range like Carmelo can. Again though, it's international play so there's no need to have two bigs in the middle because that will not help you at all when they play a s*it load of zone defense on us. Would you rather have Bosh step out to hit a jumper or Carmelo?

Arenas over Wade? You're crazy. Arenas is not that good man. Just because his stats are impressive doesn't mean he's a superstar. He's a really good player but he doesn't have that next level that Wade/LeBron have.

Paul must start for the USA at the point, not quite sure why you'd want to play Arenas, Wade, and LeBron in the same lineup Shifty...

Because Arenas is a better player than Paul?

What's Wade going to do against a zone defense? He's going to beat his man, get collapsed on, get "fouled", but those "fouls" won't get called in the international game. Wade won't be shooting 40 free throws per game in the World Championships. I love him, but if you want someone who's game isn't made for the International Game, it's Wade. How do you not see this!!

You do know that Wade can drain the mid-range right ?

ps: Arenas might be the better player but he's not the better PG

Wade's midrange shot is extremely streaky and his outside shot is still almost non-existant. In addition, when he starts trying to dominate, he is predictable and a tad selfish. It worked in the playoffs because he got a lot of phantom calls along with being ridiculous. But in the international game, he will be collapsed on. I don't see him being the missing piece for the US Team, however I DO see Arenas being that missing piece. He can shoot from anywhere, take anyone off the dribble, guard any international guard, and create for others. You guys have this cookie cutter version of what a point guard should be and if someone doesn't fit the mold automatically they can't do it as good as someone who does fit the mold. CP3 is a fantastic player, but his talent and his experience is no where close to Arenas, neither is his defense.

This is where you suffer from not having seen Paul as much as I have seen Paul here in ACC country. You probably know him from a few tourney games and maybe an NBA game last year whereas I've seen him countless times make some passes that maybe only 2 other guards would think of in the NBA right now (Kidd and Nash). He runs the floor like a bullet, he can drain the 3 and he shoots a high % from the Ft line. Call me crazy but I actually see Paul's year last year as a better season than Arenas's year. Paul almost took a team with no one on it to the playoffs in the West, the Wizards would probably not even make it in the West and they have a good supporting cast around him.

Wade shoots 50% from the field, that's not streaky.

edit: btw I'm willing to bet that coach K won't start Arenas.

Of course K won't start Arenas, but I'm starting to really wonder if he's the right man for the job.

Don't patronize me my man, I've seen Chris Paul a lot. ACC Games, especially ones which feature the highest regarded college point guard since Jason Kidd get broadcast everywhere. I saw Paul have an amazing game against the Bucks at the BC this year in person. I know what he can do. He's not as good as Arenas RIGHT NOW. It's nothing against him! Go to an NBA Board and they will tell you how good Arenas is. They will also have high opinions of Chris Paul, but they will undoubtedly tell you that Arenas is one of the best players in the NBA; with Chris Paul you will get "he is one of the best point guards in the NBA. There's a huge difference.

That's because 70% of his shots are simple layups. He has no consistent jumper and won't get those phantom calls. I'm pretty sure he won't live up to the hype.

4) Who played the worst? A few guys had bad games. Once again, Gilbert Arenas didn’t seem to play so well, looking lost offensively and just not quite up to par defensively. I also thought Chris Bosh looked a step slow, which might just be the travel catching up with him. Bruce Bowen never really distinguished himself, either.

5) So which two players will get cut? Well, let’s go in reverse…
The locks to make the team are: LeBron, Melo, Wade, Dwight Howard, Chris Paul.

I’d say the second tier, the guys I’d be shocked if they’re cut, are: Joe Johnson, Elton Brand, Kirk Hinrich

The next rung would be: Shane Battier, Brad Miller

And the bottom level are: Gilbert Arenas, Chris Bosh, Bruce Bowen, Antawn Jamison.

Gilbert has looked like a duck/crazy man out of water thus far, confused on offense because he’s not sure how it works or something. And Bosh just hasn’t shown himself to be as good as the other guys. But if it’s between a guard and a big man, I think you keep the big man.

So no Nene Hilario or Rafael Araujo eh?

I too think they should have no problem bringing this home, but 4 point games??

They were up 14 at HT because nobody could stop Melo (16 points in the half) but then he got injured and nobody seemed to get hot yet they still go the victory whereas USA teams in the last couple of years would of probably folded and lost.

First win for us this morning, failed to watch the game due to work but I heard we had a pretty nice first quarter and then let them play their game. I'm pretty confident we can go far in the tournament. Nowitzki is clearly te bext offensive player on the planet and the team has been playing together for several years now.

We could of won by a lot more but for some reason they slowed down some of the defensive pressure and the PR's guards had wide open threes. It was a decent performance by the USA. They'll have to do a lot better to win this and definitely not give up 100 points in 40 minutes.

Though Puertoricans showed it's possible to compete with the USA, moreover possible to beat them. But the game also showed the USA are favourites.
