strange...

I played with Your GPU a game yesterday... Costa Rica vs. Brazil.. 6-0.. scoring always in the same way.. long pass and the CPU defense couldn't do anything about it.. could You do something about that ?

For the rest it's a great GPU !! Keep up the good work !! :lui:

Latest is the greatest...

Biggy...

I installed your latest gameplay for WC06 yesterday afternoon...and didn't stop until after midnight this morning. This is really quality stuff. I like the way the CPU offense builds...I love the way the non-controlled defenders cover their responsibilities. I love the way speedy players can be a pain to handle. I love the way players of great skill...play with great skill. I am playing Ireland in their World Cup qualifying group...and with a healthy Roy Keane...did battle with Zidane. Zidane was all possession...and tricks and turns and passing into space. Keane-oh was on top of him from the off...pushing...stealing...even hacking him down and drawing a yellow. A tense tight struggle won with an early Roy Keane goal on a daisy cutter from about 25 yards out that came after a great pullback. Holding on to the lead with Viera running at me from the right of midfield...and Henry blasting away. It was Saha (who came on for an ineffective Trezeguet) who had the best chance as Given made a fantastic save on a 1 v. 1. It was finally over with Ireland clinging to a 0-1 victory. All this in semi-pro!

Results are generally low-scoring...with the exception of Australia's expected 0-4 romp over Vanuatu. Did lose 2-1 with the US at Panama...but that was tactical mistake on my part...left the team in attacking mode in the last ten minutes on enemy turf. And I got a ripe old hosing in Gabon playing as Nigeria.
Had Utaka...one of my forwards dismissed on a fair tackle in the first 20 minutes...and collected three more yellow cards. I couldn't touch anyone. Drew 1-1 with ten men...would have won with 11...and probably with a fair ref! That is another thing I have noticed about your gameplay, big...more tackling...more physical play...more fee kicks...more injuries...and it's generally bloody hard winning on the road. Have you tweaked that? It's great if you have...leave it the way it is if you haven't. Those parts of the game are excellent now.

I did have some problems with the previously mentioned long pass and shot by the computer opponents. I managed to shut that down somewhat after a couple hours of play by controlling my center back better. Hard to tell you exactly what I did...I just concentrated on keeping the striker in front of me. I too thought most of my goals would be the same...but the more I play...the more I am finding new ways to score. Haven't scored with a header yet...but I'm not missing that too much at this point...although I did miss a yawning open goal in the closing minutes in Panama due to the lack of control on a header.

And yes...it's the same old thing with the CPU shooting. They generally don't...but I did see a few more shots from the CPU than I have in more recent updates. I was outshot 12(7)-10(5) by France in that loss. It seems to depend on the talent of the team I'm playing against that dictates the number and type of shots.

Biggy...this is a great update in gameplay for WC06...and I will stay with it for the foreseeable future. But count me in on any beta testing you need for your next version. I also adjusted by camera angles from tele to broadcast and fairly low and close...and that really changed the game for me. I'ts a whole new experience. I thnk everyone who gets bored wit this game should give this a try...change the camera angle...the more severe...the better. I lowered the angle to get a better look at kits in-game and wound up seeing new shooting and passing lanes. Just little things like that can make big differences.

Again...great work...look forward to more!

Cheers,
mutiger

Hi Biggy, your GPU is really good, but need some fixes: keepers during corners...they could go for some balls in the air, it's too easy to beat CPU defence with through ball, long shots...more power and a bit faster rising of power meter!
And i've got a question: It's possible to mix difficulty levels?? I want to change perfect with all-star difficulty...If it's possible i make it myself, but I need advice how so if you'll have some time for me please contact me on my icq (216-570-393)or just post it here. Thanx

I've read every body's feedback, and believe me guys that what you said is very helpful and useful, but the thing is that I'm working in a design company and I didn't have enough time to edit the game play files.

And guess what guys? I've bought EA's Rugby 06! :) IT IS WONDERFUL. After playing a little I found out that they have one of the greatest game physics in all games I have played, for some reason I felt like if the team that made the Rugby 06 were really smart and loyal to their job. Gravity was great, body animation was so realistic, and another small things that I wish FIFA 07 will have such as steam coming out of the mouths of the players while playing!

Anyways, I don't want to make this a Rugby 06 talk! lol but they have really got me impressed!

Another reason why I slowed down on editing the game play is that FIFA 07 is coming out very soon, in other words, I'll wait for the demo of it, and if it was better than FIFA 06 then I'll stop editing FIFA 06 immediately at that point, in the other hand if the demo sucked (which I expect to be) I'll continue editing as soon as possible.

Thank you guys for the support, and take care! :)

Biggy's GPU for 2006 FIFA World Cup (TM) V. Final

OK guys, due to many (And I mean A LOT) of requests through emails and other forums for me to update this game play, I have done some work that I believe will be as close as to FIFA 07 new engine, in other words, playing the game now will make you feel like watching the FIFA 07 new videos, I'm of course talking here about the Physics of the ball and the speed of the play. :)

And as FIFA 07 coming soon, this version of my update is going to be the final one for the series of 2006 FIFA WORLD CUP Germany. Not that I support FIFA 07 or something, but I'm so busy in job stuff, and little bit short in time on some projects (omg).

In this Final Version:

1. Slowest game play ever (if set also on slow mode), which means even much more realistic.
2. Players collide more often.
3. Goal Keepers are actually easy to beat especially when it is a one on one situation; they will not catch a speeding ball that has been shot 1 meter away from them!
4. The ball is now free! It moves in the weirdest way possible, you can expect where it is going but your player will kind of suffer and play hard to gain control of the ball.

As you can all see, my update is mainly all about the ball physics and game speed. I think that the answer for all our problems in having a "real" game is to have some type of a new engine for the ball; the ball must act like if it was another human being, it should have it's own brain and own situations. What bothers me in these FIFA releases is that the ball seems to be sucked by the legs or heads of the players! I hope that they'll fix this in FIFA 07, if they do, then the new game is going to be the most realistic one ever!

Anyways, Have fun, and enjoy my final release, it was fun modifying these files, and even more fun sharing the ideas with you fine people. :) I'll stick around for news and questions, but no more editing for FIFA 06 or Germany 2006.

Hey Biggy :)

Haven't played heaps with the final patch yet, but from what I've seen so far, it's the best yet!!! I love the ball physics - it really does have a mind of it's own! Also, I like the fact that the keepers are not over-skilled like in siome patches. The difficulty is in creating the scoring opportunity, but if you get there you'll score. My favourite patch for both 06 and WC so far.

A question for you Biggy: I have been using your wc-final ini.big with Ockham's new FIFA06 exe (with the smaller field size) - the gameplay is awesome! The slowness and all around gameplay of your WC Final patch is perfect for this ... BUT ... I was just wondering which parameter would adjust the height of bicycle kicks - no matter who is shooting it ALWAYS goes over the bar. Remember, this is in FIFA06 NOT WC! So if you could tell me how to adjust just this parameter it would also make my 06 experience more wonderful!

Love your work (and the new sig LOL!) :)

Cheers,
Gonzo

Thank you gonzo99_9 for the feedback, I'll be waiting for even more from you and others.

About the bicycle height parameter, I don't think that I can help you in this part, as I my self have been looking for such thing since 2 years. If I'm understanding you right, then the solution for your thing is in the hand of animation editors, but nothing to do with game play files. :)

Anyways, I hope that someone reading this can help you. Take care and have fun playing FWC 2006.

Hey Biggy,

Worked out the solution to my specific FIFA06 problem: I just changed the field size in ai.ini in both your ini.big and config.dat to match ockham's new field size settings (Doh!). All of a sudden it's even better, and the bicycle kick works like it should.

All of a sudden I love both games equally!!!

Thanks for a great update :jap:

Wow, I have to try your gp then, seems finally something new in gp editing :)
I'm reinstalling Fifa WC again right now.

Played just a couple of matches, but it's clear that this is something really new :)
Game physics is really improved and even if WC has indeed a better engine than Fifa 06 I'm almost sure that managing a bit the ini files all these improvements can be ported on Fifa 06 and maybe, as Gonzo suggests, tested with the reduced field size to increase CPU capacity of attack. I will test more and let you know anyway :)

I have a question anyway: do you think that the cpudiff settings need to be the same that you use in combination with the ai ones? Or it's possible to keep the actual "engine" with different difficulty settings?

Reserve Team
Of course it is possible to use other cpudiff.ini, at the end it each file contains different aspects; ai.ini has gravity and physics in general, and cpudiff has actual AI of the CPU. give it a try with other difficulty settings.

But try to keep the difficulty of the goal keepers the same or a bit more, because I think that keeping them like this is more realistic... We should make the difficulty of "reaching" the goal harder, but the keepers are very believable this way. You know what I mean? I hope so :) It should be hard to break the defence, hard to shoot, but not hard to score when you are one on one with the goal keeper.

I would love to see the field settings that you talked about, the idea seems to be challenging and new... test and let me know what you have got.

@ Biggy: I have played a bit more with this update on WC2006 and am loving it. For me the way the goalkeepers are is great. In the real world no goalie stops shots fired from 2 m away in a one on one every time - or even most times! But I have to admit that I've been having way too much fun playing with this update in FIFA06 with OckHAM's changed field size to play so much WC2006

@ OckHAM: I would love to see what happens if you port this over to FIFA06. I think that there are definitely some adjustments which need to be made for the ball physics - mainly to do with the way the ball rolls - it seems to slow down a lot faster in FIFA06 than in WC2006 when it's travelling along the ground. I really hope that you have a crack at this 'cos even as it is it plays wonderfully with your field size adjustment. To my mind this is because (great AI aside) Biggy's preference for slowing the play right down means that the smaller field size isn't as noticeable from a gameplay speed point of view. I will be eagerly watching for new developments :)

cheers,
gonzo
