Dado Prso has drawn the curtain on his international career after deciding to call time on playing for Croatia.

The Rangers marksman has long-standing knee problems and feels that the added strain of playing for his country would prove detrimental to his club football.

Prso was part of the Croatia squad that failed to sparkle in Germany at this summer's World Cup, which will prove the player's last major international tournament.

In total, Prso won 32 caps for Croatia and having scored a creditable nine goals he leaves the international scene with the blessing of Croatian FA president Vlatko Markovic.

''Dado Prso telephoned me to tell me his knee injury has worsened and he has decided to stop playing international football,'' Markovic told the Daily Record.

''Dado has been one of the best players Croatia have had over the past couple of years.

''But the strain of playing in four major tournaments - the Scottish League, the Scottish Cup, Europe and internationals - would have proved too much for him.

''Something had to go and he chose to give up playing for Croatia.''

that sucks, but I would of done the same if i had such an injury. PLaying for the national you dont get much paid like your club and obviously you have bigger chance of getting injured.

He may not be the most skillful player around, but he's certainly not crap.

You'd know that if you watched him play. He gave a lot even by normal standards, and when you count in his bad knee, it makes his efforts golden.

yeah he always gave a lot and sh't....still a crap player in my book.

noticed many older players would resign from the NT right after a major tournament, just like the recent WC. why dont they resign before the coming tournament so other players who are hoping to build up their NT career get to be selected?
