Scott Minto was already in Benfica when Souness arrived and he was a decent player. very far from the nightmares Harkness, Charles and Thomas.

Brian Deane was good too here

There was a huge thread about this on Bigsoccer once. The #1 guy was by far: Alvaro Recoba (I'd have to agree, but only to an extent that I think the expectations were wayyyyy too high for him all over)

I'd agree.

Although I don't doubt there are bigger "disappointments" out there (Nico Olivera comes to mind...), Recoba is just a cruel joke. He was the best paid player in the world not long ago, yet did little more than warm the bench at Inter, and was completely useless during our 2002 WCQ's. He was also invisible throughout the first half of the current WCQ campaign, sufficing to say that he was second choice to Liguera, who if I recall correctly, was still playing for Fenix at the time.

personally, i'd have to say emile heskey as well. i dunno if it's the biggest waste of "talent," but it's a waste of God given strength and pace.
