I hope Vidic is a good prospect, he was part of a strong defence for Serbia & Montenegro, they only conceded one goal during the whole qualification round.....

They want 10 mill for him though, they must be crazy...I'm sure we can get Andrade for that money... Besides we need a midfielder more.

I doubt we are prepared to pay up 10 mil for Vidic. He's not proven at the highest level yet and midfield is our priority. I don't think spending a big chunk of the budget on a relatively unknown defender is necessary or likely.

Hes unheard of for now, but once he signs for a big team, then you will hear about him. He is one of the best DC's you will see these days, and hes only 24. Liverpool, and Fiorentina are also interested, hes pipped to be one of the best youngest DC in Europe, so i wouldnt moan .....

well i have seen a bit of this vidic guy and from what i see he is a very mean defender and doesn't give anything away. he is bit like a nesta. i think he is worth 10 mill cause he is going to create a name for himself. i say sell silvestre and with the money left the buy the no.1 target as we already are going to get nigel de jong.

Nigel de Jong is going to Dortmund (he is in talks with them atm). I am sure Vidic will be a big hit at OT. It must say something if a number of big clubs are after him and as I mentioned earlier he was part of a strong S&M defence

what, I thought our fee of 1mill was agreed from ajax for de jong and he was certain to join in january for the cut-price deal instead for free in the summer. what is fergie doing,a wonderkid who can play dm better than any other united player at the moment is going to go to dortmund.

I don't think Ole is ready yet, I think he has to get atleast 5 to 10 matches under his belt before making it to the first team. SAF mentioned that he didn't want to rush him, I am expecting somewhere in January
Solskjaer May Be Handed Place On The Bench

Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could be handed a place on the bench during United's festive run of four games in eight days.

The Norwegian has come through two run-outs with the Reserves in recent weeks and, according to the United boss, has been "training very well" with the first team squad since returning from his long lay-off with a knee injury.

With the Reserves not in action again until the middle of January, Fergie confirmed that Solskjaer could be back in the squad over the hectic Christmas period.

"It's possible," the Reds boss told reporters at his press briefing. "He's trained every day since he came back and has been doing very well.

"It's unfortunate that the Reserves don't play again until the middle of next month because he could have done with a Reserve game this week. But hopefully we'll get him a bit of football in the next couple of weeks.

"We've got four games in eight days and I would think that all the squad players will be involved at some point."

The Reds kick-off their Christmas fixtures with the visit of West Brom on Boxing Day.

United have already tasted victory over Bryan Robson's side this season, after knocking them out of the Carling Cup with a 3-1 win last month.

While Fergie believes that result will have no bearing on Monday's clash, he remains confident his side will provide the fans with some Christmas cheer.

"You've got to be confident going into the Christmas period," he insisted. "I've been very happy with the form of the team and all the players have been playing well too.

"You only get that good form with consistent results and we've been getting those results in recent weeks.

"Hopefully we can keep all the players fresh and fit and keep our good form going."

Give him 11 ordinary players and he will create a strong team. IF he comes I am sure he will do a good job,
no matter what league it is

EDIT: Vidic is almost a done deal...!

Yeah 4 games out of 8 days is a quite a lot. The players would get tired very easily and we need to rotate the squad to bring in fresh legs.

Reserve Team
If Fergis is willing to spend 10m on Vidic, he's either very confident of his abilities, or has one eye set on selling big (Silvest, Ferdinand maybe?)

Haha selling Ferdinand? Our best defender right and the youngest. SAF has mentioned quite alot that he wants more depth in this squad, so bringing in Vidic and selling another defender doesn't make sense, especially with Heinze out....

Reserve Team
you're right I guess.

But Ferdinand has been slacking lately, I sure as hell don't want to see him go no matter how greedy he is, he is good when motivated.

But I am SURE, that much i can tell you, that a €16m signing won't be riding bench. Neither will Ferdinand while @ united...so...who will?
